Restoring Safety and Vitality to Chapel Street

I am 65 and have lived in the area since I was 28. I am very concerned about how dangerous chapel Street is becoming

Keep us safe! Was verbally abused and followed on a Monday morning just trying to go to the gym. Once safely inside the gym this guy continued to smash his fists on the windows still yelling at me and spitting on the glass. Police were called and only showed up an hour later once he had fled.

Safety of our Community is priority . Time to step up Stonnington !

It’s scary sometimes

When I lived in Prahran last year it was getting out of hand with drink people and homeless people getting high on end….the story’s I could tell. Something needs to be done asap to fix this or it’s going to get even worse and then nobody will go there.

I was assaulted walking past the town hall on Sunday 7th January. A clearly drug effected woman walked up behind me and when I turned around she punched me in the side of the head. Chapel street is an absolute nightmare and not safe. What will it take for the Police and council to stop this abhorrent and dangerous behaviour so rate paying law abiding citizens can feel safe.?

Please make this area safe again.

I and my family do not feel safe spending time outside our home and yet our home is invaded by public nuisances from an unsocialable group of people congregated in front of Prahran Town Hall. Currenly, the Prahran Town Hall and the iconic Chapel street is a far cry to be proud of. Both the footpath in front of PTH and sidewalks of Chapel street as well as small streets off Chapel are littered with animal and human feces. Air fills with pungent smell of urine. It is time the Stonnington Council and the Authorities concerned to take prompt effective action to rectify the situation and the whole environment for the safety of our physical and mental health. Real cleaning up is urgently needed.

Cabin villages like caravan parks need to be available to these people, they are homeless and addicted and chaotic.

This behaviour is stretched out further from the town hall, particularly around the supermarkets. Ive witness an injection in daylight outside Dan Murphy’s and a man exposing himself whilst verbally attacking people near Bridie O’Reilys.

The noise is terrible, the dirt and rubbish that they leave there is terrible, but most importantly, it becomes dangerous for women walking past and younger children. City of Stonington needs to do something.

I’m dismayed that the solution that was found to house and look after these people during two years of lockdowns is no longer viable apparently.

In Prahran Square it also feels extremely unsafe.
