This petition is to change or amend the legal right of employers who reduce the wages of their un-contracted employees inorder to regain lost profits but never restore them once profitability is returned. In recent years, due to the economic down turn, many employers have reduced employee wages so that they can regain lost profits. These are the category of emplyees who make over the minimum wage and were originally offered a specific salary upon hire. This is an acceptable legal practice for employers who have non contracted employees. But once the company starts to make a profit, the employees wages are not restored and the company continues to make a profit without any liability for lost wages or any intent to restore to the original salary offer. The "At Will" law makes it easy for such employers to put financial pressure on their employees so that they quit voluntarily, consequently relieving them of their additional overhead cost. Employees must have the right to have their wages restored once a company shows profit for at least two consecutive quarters in a fiscal year. Hiring freezes should be implemented until all employees are at their satisfactory wage level.
