The council finally reversed the demolition order and committed to the restoration process. It has been a long and draining fight but our town landmark is safe now. I am going to rest for a while though I will keep an eye on the construction crews to be sure they …
One hundred people signed this and the weight of that is starting to sink in. I am exhausted by the silence from the council but seeing your names here keeps me moving forward.

The legend of the Dodge City Red Demons came about due to a slip of the tongue. We were once known as the Dodge City Red "D"- men. Personally, I like that the demon face is a little frightening. Puts out sport competitors on edge a bit. Please put our Demon mascot back on the water tower.

This was painted over by a person who took things into their own hands. That's not how we do things in a democracy. The mascot is what it is, and it has nothing to do with a demonic cult. It belongs back on the water tower. I graduated a Demon and it was on my announcements.

Seems to me that at several points in time, the people who were opposed to the Demon being on the tower were people who were fairly new to Dodge City, and they or their kids never attended DCHS. Native born Dodge Citian here, DCHS Class of 1979!

My dad, Bob Hermes, was one of those instrumental in getting the Red Demon on top of the water tower. Would love to see it up there again.

This is a LANDMARK, and an inherent part of the local culture. It is a symbol of both school and community pride and we could sure use a dose of both. Restore it!!
