The staff should never have been furloughed as the library was funded through June 30 and they could have been quarantining books and providing curbside service the whole past 4 months.

We love the library and the staff,hope the staff don't have to go through all mental abuse anymore.It is trying time for all,the best we could do is be empathetic to people around you...

His actions are hostile, hateful and he is the mouthpiece of a wanna-be career politician who claims to love this city but will destroy it if he doesn’t get his way.

This board is making large monetary decisions without public knowledge, including the hiring of an advisor to evaluate staff needs. Staff are afraid to speak out for fear of this particular board member retaliating against them. He has caused so much stress and derision in the library. The force out of a wonderful director being the worst. This evaluation they are doing was started before the Covid pandemic. He is trying to cut as much staff as possible. Hopefully, the downtown branch won’t be closed which has been mentioned. Residents need to know what is going on at their library.

I live in Farmington Hills and what’s happening to the library it’s just an atrocity. It’s been suffering for a long long time but especially during the pandemic.

Library Board members should be knowledgeable of library functions and operations, as well as be proven advocates for the communities they serve. A board member without these basic qualifications can cause negative ripples through every facet of the library community and those they serve!

Toxic leadership and board members must be removed from libraries. Protect library workers and spare them from hostile work environments that don't have their best interests - or those of their community members - in mind.

I’ve lived in Farmington Hills for over sixty years, raised two children, and have taught with Farmington Public Schools. In all of those roles; as a citizen, parent, and teacher, I have used the resources that my library provides. Throughout the decades I have received excellent service that made me proud of my hometown. This spring, I have attended several of the Library Board meetings online. Without fail the Board seemed unprepared and failed to provide adequate details or justifications for their actions and inactions, and never once responded to questions posed to them by the public. Mr Largent was dismissive of the library’s staff and displayed a controlling relationship with many of his fellow board members. This entire situation is sad and embarrassing for my library and my hometown.

Given the unrest in the world and our society, the library is a needed source of comfort to the community. How can the staff be expected to fulfill their duties and commitment to the community with this type of leadership in place.

yes, the comments made, during board meetings, no less, were not only unprofessional, but disgraceful. Somebody with those views and willing to publicly show them has no business being involved in running an institution employing BIPOC or LGBTQ+ staff.
