There are many other sites for a dump. Using an historical site is not necessary.

I was born & raised in the Rockvale Community & have so many wonderful memories and the Rockvale Store is one.
The general store is not only a history of Rockvale, but the whole country. General stores were scattered thru out the country. Stepping thru the doors of a historical place & transported to a more gentle time is a unique experience that everyone can enjoy.
Please preserve the Rockvale Store. Visitors can reminisce on their childhood memories or experience what their parents, grandparents or others did when coming to the store. It will be good for families, community, county and tradition!

Craig Potts with the Kentucky Heritage Council said that "historic preservation does much more than preserve bricks and mortar. It recognizes that our built history connects us in tangible ways with our past and provides context for the places we occupy and the world we live in." Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis once said, "If we don't care about our past, we cannot hope for the future." For a local government to destroy a part of history and replace it with a trash dump is a violation of the trust of the citizens that elected those officials.

My ancestors (Douglas and Carltons) were long ago residents of Rockvale. I love this community and it's history. Please restore the store and preserve it's history.

This was and is a nostalgic part of the history of the Rockvale community. From politics to news, from sandwiches to their cold soft drinks, and checkers sometimes being played in the rear of the store by the most serious. Gas pumps on the road. A legacy of Windrows operating the store.

This store is very special to me. My Daddy and his family lived on Versailles Rd. and went to this store all the time and I also went to this store a lot also when visiting my Grandma.
