Given the growing problems of vandalism and break-ins and the continuing sale of drugs, Leeton desperately needs a full time police force.

This is a necessity! We are a great town that is having issues with the crime rate escalating. Full time policing (as well as changing some punishments) would definitely reduce the amount of incidents.

With the growing use of drugs, particularly Ice, there is increased irrational crime and odd and scary behaviour of people in the streets and public places. Youths are being destructive, vandalising, stealing and break and entering. They feel sure they can get away with their actions because the police are not visual deterrents. The other day people were frightened by an intruder on their premises and it took police over two hours to get to the address. Not their fault, but we cannot feel secure and safely protected by police, when they are not even in their station as we would expect.

I think the powers that be are doing a complete disservice to the Leeton community as a whole by not having a fully functional Police station operating 24/7 as the town rightly deserves. While visiting family for Christmas I was so shocked for one to see the graffiti on the shop wall across the road from Telstra/The Post Office that I took a photo! And not from an interest perspective but one of disgust. On top of that, as I walked further along the main street I noticed the Movie Cafe window had been smashed in. And while I was looking in the Roxy Theatre window reminiscing when my dad used to work there I noticed in the doors reflection a Police patrol drive straight past but not stop to even assess the damage to the window. Granted they may have done so earlier before I arrived on scene but the Movie Cafe window remained as is and exposed. So in the time it took me to walk down to Aldi, have a browse and return to the Roxy Theatre, the Movie Cafe window remained the same, exposed with broken glass. Why is the Leeton Police station unmanned in the first place? Clearly there is a drug problem in the town like everywhere else and yet there is no immediate Police presence which results in a flow on affect of residents not feeling safe for their families and property. This issue requires immediate attention.

Although I am relative newcomer (18 Years In Leeton) I have seen changes and not for the better With more break ins and violence on our streets it is a sad indicator of our times, with the onslaught of the ice epidemic. The police can only do so much but at least if they have the numbers on hand they can get things under control a bit quicker.

As an ED nurse, I see the increase in Mental Health and drug related offences. The big increase in home invasions and break ins, now makes me feel u safe in my home. To the point I am considering leaving Leeton, and leaving a vital professional role at the hospital

This should have been done years ago.

We can't blame the police for the break ins... They do their very best with their hands tied... This is the first step towards making our town safer and allowing police to actually be able to do their job...

With all the bad things that are going on in Leeton I think something should be done as it is getting out of control.

We Need A24/7 police station in Leeton. Our 94 yr old Father died after being robbed before Xmas, if we had more Police available the Crime rate will fall. All Leeton people are aware of the scarcity of police overnight here and the criminal s know this and are taking advantage of the situation, Please protect us. We need our Police In full force hee. Thank you for listening.
