I am totally against the new policy, and totally agree that it counters all open-access efforts that ACM brags about .

It also appears that they have removed my account although I do over 40+ hours of volunteer work for the organization each week. It will not let me login and when I ask to retrieve my username, it is the one I am using. It is impossible for me and my team to do the volunteer work we need to do for the organization without access to the ACM DL.

ACM Member (SIGGRAPH, SIGCHI), Industry Professional, happy to pay to support the ACM as a community resource.
I expect better from the ACM than I do from other institutions. Pay it forward.

I understand the ACM needs to make sufficient money to operate, but these changes make the DL a substantially less useful resource.

Why was this change quietly made during many people's holiday time off without providing opportunity for discussion?

Thank you to the petition organizers for articulating clearly the scholarly communication principles at stake in open access publishing.
