I have access to Premium Features through institutional and personal subscriptions. However, full metadata should be openly shared and reuse encouraged—in the true spirit of open science. In fact, we should view ACM Open as just a first step toward full diamond open access.

I applaud the spirit of ACM Open and strongly condemn the new
metadata/search/commentary paywall at the ACM Digital Library (DL). Let’s keep papers as accessible as possible for *everyone*, regardless of status and employment.

When I read the recent ACM statement about the DL, I was surprised to see a paywall provision in an open-access announcement. I thought it was a mistake. In retrospect, it was a mistake.

Everybody wants open access, nobody wants AI summaries, especially not if they are on average less accurate than the author-provided summaries we've been calling "abstracts" for a really long time. Stop trying to jump on some stupid bandwagon and get back to providing the service we want you to provide.
