The Wisconsin DNR has chosen to exclude the Door County Historical Society's (DCHS) request to include the restoration of the outbuildings at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse at Peninsula State Park in Door County, Wisconsin in its Master Plan. The DCHS began preservation efforts in 1960 and continue today as we celebrate its 150th Anniversary in 2018. Inclusion of the restoration of the barn and summer kitchen in the Master Plan will allow the DCHS to construct these buildings at a future date, thus restoring the Eagle Bluff Light Station to its period of significance. The petition copies will be presented to Representative Joel Kitchens (Rep.Kitchens@legis.wisconsin.gov or 608-266-5350), DNR Secretary Daniel Meyer ([email protected] or 608-266-2121), and Governor Walker (608) 266-1212 before the public comment period closes on June 12, 2018.

The steady growth of this list reminds me that many people value the preservation of our local maritime history. We are nearing a significant milestone that will demonstrate the strength of our collective concern to the DNR officials. Please take a moment to pass this along so we can ensure our message reaches the right desks with full force.

The feedback I have received from those who visit the park shows how deeply this history resonates with the community. Behind the scenes I am preparing the documentation to present to the officials who hold the authority to adjust the current plan. It is clear that preserving the outbuildings is essential to maintaining the integrity of the entire site for future generations.

Watching this list grow reminds me that people truly value the historical integrity of our landscape. We need to maintain this momentum until we reach our first major milestone so our perspective carries the necessary weight during upcoming meetings.

As a past tour guide I have seen the interest in the days gone by. The questions asked and interest shown price to me that the addition of the other buildings will enhance the knowledge of yesteryear.

Considering the DCHS would be funding the project without need for any public funds, there doesn't seem to be any valid reason to NOT include the projects on the master plan so permits may be issued.

Too many historical sites are destroyed. The lighthouse outbuildings are part of Eagle Bluff should be restored & not destroyed. At no cost to Wisconsin DNR! Allow DCHS tp preserve the future for the next generations!

Our history is important do remind us who we are, where we've been, what we've done, problems we've solved, what we cared about. Please do not turn your back on this effort to continue restoration of this wonderful piece of America's and Wisconsin's shipping history.

Our family owned the barn from 1924 until the Park became a State Park in 1967 and we had to vacate. This project would be extremely beneficial to our family in its preservation for future generations to see in its original condition and spot on the property.

To the DNR: Please remember your role as stewards of Wisconsin's treasures and include the restoration of the outbuildings at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in your "master" plan.

Local resident, Sister Bay. I've enjoyed taking friends for tours for 28 years. It's a fine organization. The plan is solid.
