I agree. This design is not addressing pedestrian safety which is why we asked for this study in the first place.

This is one of the most dangerous, least thought out, and stupid changes that the city of Boston has made. The street is now too narrow for the traffic pattern and very dangerous if one needs to double park to take a child or groceries out of one's car. If it is not changed, I will not vote for Mayor Walsh in the next election.

I agree that narrowing traffic lanes on Beacon Street is idiotic as well as absurd. This is an example of ideology conquering reality.

I live on Beacon between Exeter and Fairfield. I have a car and I have a bike. I bike all across the city and use my car to visit my kids in the burbs. I do not like the change to Beacon Street. I used Comm ave with the existing bike lane and would sometimes go up Beacon. Never had a problem. I do not get why this was changed- it seems absurd as a biker. Asa pedestrian I find it harder to look for traffic and cross safely.

The bike lane is causing big disruptions, especially in winter with snow. There is already bike lane on Comm. Ave. - rarely see people biking.

I've lived on Beacon St for 19 years. This is the most unsafe I've felt walking, parking, and as of late trying to brush the snow off my car -without getting mowed down. There is no room for error now and drivers are more inpatient with the reduction of space. The addition of a bicycle lane was forced down everyone's throat as a solution to reduce speeding and accidents. I attended all the meetings and voiced my concerns in writing as well. Beacon Street is a residential street, in a historical neighborhood. Residents have a right to the preservation and safety of their street. This is purely political. Of all the years I've lived here it has not been even moderately used by bicyclists. Stop it now before an accident happens.

Cannot agree more. The amount of space allocated to the bike lane is ridiculous considering the amount of bike traffic on Beacon St. (when did I last see anyone biking?) - it is a waste of space. Cars are often double parked on both sides of the reduced 2 lanes forcing drivers to go in a zig zag, passenger pick up/drop off has become more dangerous to every party using Beacon St., and the Mass. Ave. intersection has become a point of traffic jam. Does the city of Boston want more traffic problems, accidents, and angry residents? Please restore it back to the 3-lane Beacon St.

This is an evacuation route. Now if someone double parks to pick up or drop someone off, it is down to one lane. Also, there is already a bike lane on Commonwealth Avenue (only) a block away, which is perfectly adequate to cover the entire Back Bay area. There is also a bike lane along the Charles River.

I have counted 12 bikers (6 on that warm February day) since January 1st. Quite a few other bikers continue to use street (not lane) with no helmets. It’s very unsafe for drivers and pedestrians and much of the traffic doesn’t know what to do. Beacon Street is essentially down to one lane of driving (since eight lane is squished with drivers getting out of parked cars). I don’t see the value. There are bike lanes at Comm Ave and on the Esplanade that are not even close to half capacity. Why another lane for just a few blocks?

couldn't agree more... I have lived here for 14 years and our street looks like a circus every day with staggered cars that stick out or take up much of the bike lane. PLEASE revert to how it was.

There are not many bikers that ride Beacon St. Only a few bikers use the lane. Most bikers still ride down the middle of the road. It creates massive confusion for parking. Please reverse it.
