The new arrangement was a well-meaning attempt to improve safety. However, Beacon Street has now become more congested and less safe due to limited visibility at the corners and the need to maneuver around delivery trucks and other stopped vehicles. The experiment should be declared unsuccessful and we should revert to the previous three-lane travel pattern. Other traffic calming techniques should be explored.

The new arrangement was motivated by safety concerns - trying to reduce the speed on Beacon Street. In the process the street became congested (with Uber, Lyft, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.Beacon is effectively a one lane street) and less safe (due to limited visibility on turns in and out of it). The same objective could have been achieved by traffic cameras, speed bumps, and many other means.

Pattern has narrowed street to 2 lanes. Bicycle lane is dangerous. Pedestrians' safety has been put more at risk.

Current configuration is dangerous: bikers do not slow down as people are exiting passenger side of car; bikers also do not stop or even slow down for red lights. Delivery services (UPS, USPS, Dry Cleaners, taxis & Uber/Lyft drivers, etc.) must live park effectively making Beacon St. a one-lane road.

In a laudatory attempt to increase bicycle safety, the City has managed to decrease safety for everyone. Let's acknowledge that this is a failed experiment, and revert to the old Beacon Street.

I’ll advised. Double parking becomes a major nightmare. This is a major thoroughfare which should accommodate more vehicles not fewer.

This is a disaster. Since it began I have NEVER seen a bicyclist use it, but I have seen several bikers riding in the car lanes! When trying to enter Beacon Street from a side street, one cannot see the oncoming traffic and must creep too far out. When walking on the sidewalk, I cannot see oncoming traffic. Whose brainchild was this???

The well-intended (but very poorly considered) recent modifications to Beacon St parking and usage lanes have created a nightmare, one that will inevitably lead to injury and death (and who will suffer the consequences? Not the City which should be liable for this very poorly considered change--drivers and pedestrians and others will be the ones to "absorb" death or injury). Vehicles are double parked while making deliveries, leaving one lane or less to navigate the resultant congestion; opening the driver's door while parked is an invitation to injury (or worse), bicycles routinely use the vehicle lanes (notwithstanding their "designated" lane), emergency vehicles have been blocked on numerous occasions while attempting to perform their duties. Turning right into Exeter is an open invitation to a disaster since the bicycles that use "their" lane do not stop/routinely go through red lights.
And I have yet to see a single police officer monitoring, patrolling, halting the numerous violations--it's time for the City to act responsibly before someone is maimed/killed!!!

Efficient and safe vehicle traffic has been destroyed on sections of Beacon and Marlborough Sts by the choking of traffic and terrible placement of parked cars in order to help cycleists (?) who now more frequently use the sidewalks!
