Ridiculous to cause so much traffic, anxiety and confusion for the few bike riders that use the lane properly, particularly since it's only used by them for 1/2 the year, while drivers suffer the WHOLE year for this. Give incentives to take the T!

This is not the solution. Why waste tax dollars on this??? Cars and bikes can exist, as they have for decades, with the way the street was previously laid out.

Very unsafe. I rarely see bicyclists follow the laws that apply to cars and pedestrians. I have known a number of pedestrians who have been hit, and in some cases badly hurt. The new lanes are dangerous for all. The Esplanade is half a block away.

I have only seen one person riding their bike on the lane, but the impact on everyone else has been tremendous. There’s not enough room for cars, and it’s a disaster when it snows.

In addition to the low bicycle traffic, a high percentage continue to use the travel lanes instead of the bike lanes. They also don't follow traffic laws and routinely go against traffic. Lack of traffic enforcement of the bicyclists contributes to this behavior.

As of 15 minutes go, they are now drilling in posts! Now anyone who has to pull over has a problem. This is totally ridiculous and ugly. There are way more cars than bikers. This is a boondoggle! This money could be better spent on so many more important problems in this city.

This is a Federal Highway and the major escape route in an emergency. It is totally unsafe to block this street with unnecessary bike lane, buffer zones and now parking which will narrow the street to 2 lanes. Maybe we should just turn all of Beacon Street into a park. God forbid there is a major emergency. In a time when terrorism is increasing not decreasing, this is really stupid. We live in a city where it is to icy to bike a third of the year. When do the wishes of a very few supercede the very real need of the majority?

The modern reality is full of deliveries from Amazon, Pickups from Uber and grocery drop-off double parking. Beacon Street has residences on both sides, and not enough parking. The bike lane in this location was a mistake.

I agree that this layout is a terrible idea. As many others have noted, the change effectively makes Beacon a one-lane street since delivery and ride-share vehicles are very commonly stopped in mid-block. Further, this change probably isn't safer for bikers since most of the accidents occur at intersections where the bikes may now be even less visible. In the abstract, this might seem like a good idea, but in reality it just doesn't serve the community.

Their is a bike path along the river that parallels Beacon Street which is safer than one on Beacon Street.
Most bikers travel along the esplanade. No need for a bike lane on Beacon SZt.

In addition to the comments already made, people living on Beacon Street who use oil heat have had to have their oil delivery provided by a truck that parks in one of the two travel lanes which makes Beacon Street even slower and more dangerous.

I agree. Uber and Lyft drivers stop on both sides of the street preventing cars from getting thru and bike riders don't even use the bike lanes. Someone is going to get hurt real bad.
