The elimination of a driving lane on Beacon Street, to add a bike lane is ludicrous. I would like to know how and why this was ever allowed to happen. I agree w the other residents and their comments- this is the worst idea and has created more traffic, more enraged drivers, more noise (Bc of honking), and more dangerous conditions for people getting in and out of a car. Change Back Beacon Street- to 3 driving lanes, immediately!!

Why isnt the bike lane on Commwealth sufficient?? Why was another major road impacted? Very rarely do I even see cyclists on Beacon, yet everyone who parks there is inconvenienced and in danger. Beacon St is not wide enough to do both!! Don’t forget The Esplanade is has a bike path for cyclists as well. I would take it one step further and have every cyclist be required to have license plates and pay insurance. There have been many accidents where pedestrians have been injured by a cyclist and they hv left the scene and the person is left to pay all their hospital bills and physical therapy bills. It happened to a friend of mine.

The decision to take away one traffic lane and put a bicycle lane in its place was a mistake. This is a residential neighborhood which is densely populated. As such, we have numerous Uber vehicles and delivery trucks parked briefly on the street, not to mention the need for some residents to double park to offload groceries or laundry. When two vehicles are temporarily parked close to each other, traffic comes to a standstill. That's when the horns and shouting begins. It can get very ugly. I wasn't like this before the road change. This is a prime example of the law of unintended consequences. Please fix this mess you created!

what a nightmare. its an accident waiting to happen. rarely do I see bikers actually in the bike lane, instead they are outside of the parked cars. there is a bike lane one block over on comm ave. that seems to work. lets encourage people to use that instead

It is more dangerous!! I drive down comm ave now. It’s not a city road so you can drive 30 and the bikes stay in their lane

remove parking place on the left side of 180 when leaving the garage - serious hazard - unable to see cars coming or bikes - remove lane from berkeley to clarendon due to danger of cars entering and leaving 180 garage!

I live at 180 Beacon and our access to enter and exit our garage in on Beacon. What was already a very dangerous maneuver has now become treacherous with already one accident resulting from this ill-conceived bike lane. I don't understand why safety was not the number one concern. Speeding cyclists wearing ear buds listening to music is a recipe for real disaster for all of the residents of our building and everyone else on Beacon. This situation is awful and must be corrected before there are some fatal injuries

Also I've been a pedestrian in this area for years and have never had a problem with cyclists or cars, as long as I waited my turn for a walk signal. Textwalkers walk into me sometimes but that's it.
