This is VBCPS's attempt to get their pass rates and graduation rates up. As usual, catering to the weakest students by lowering expectations. Unfortunately, this will set them up for failure in the workplace and college and drag every other student down in the process.

As a former high school teacher, I can state from experience that this policy will be a detriment to learning.

This is rediculously stupid and would ultimately fail every student in the Virginia Beach public school system.

They are breeding laziness, irresponsibility, and a degrading work ethic in a capitalist country. This will set up me and my classmates for failure in a competitive economy.

VBCPS should provide high quality education to our students.

Do the work. Get the credit. Don't do the work. Get the consequence. If an employee does not do their work they will eventually get fired. We are here to teach our children to be successful members of society. Do not reward laziness. Virginia Beach will be laughed at by other school districts. Colleges will know. We will be graduating slackers.

Our current grading system is fair and equitable. This is just an attempt to make sure kids graduate whether they do the work or not.. This will improve graduation but it will be a severe blow to quality education.

Why do we continue to "dumb down" our students? No wonder employers are pulling out their hair!!!

As a student, I oppose the proposed changes to grading. From my perspective, implementing this will just result in students getting meaningless grades. It would result in me in focusing less on the class itself and more on meaningless things such as having organized notes. If my notes can be read and understood my me, it's not important if the teacher can do so. Eliminating B+ and C+ grades makes it harder for students applying to competitive schools.

Being a citizen, a member of a community, employee or employer, or simply an adult requires much more than factual knowledge. It requires character and work ethic, an understanding of community and commitment. Also, practically speaking, students need to progress together from week to week. Honestly, I take less seriously and am tempted to procrastinate helping my daughter when I know she can retake a quiz or test. If I as a parent am developing this attitude of laziness, how is it affecting the students, as well as the pace and progress of the classroom?

It is absurd that this could even be considered. The world is hard enough as it is. Much less if we minimize accountability. I vote NO to this!

Do not change the grading system !All Children you should be held accountable for what they do and don't do in their school work. Thats system only sets some up for failure as an adult.

Keep grades with accountability. Taking accountability out leaves our country with a generation of kids who do not know how to work for anything.
