Please do not continue to dummy down our children, and our grandchildren, the future generation to come. Let them know that working for what they receive is what they need to do. Also they must be held accountable for their actions. Teach them the right ways, so that when they are out of school they will realize things don't just "happen".

Students who don't work hard at school should not be accepted for mediocre. Students who try hard should be encouraged to continue to try hard and succeed.

Our schools are failing because we continue to allow students to fail because we don't like telling them they are wrong. Instead we let them slide till tests come then they fail anyways. Our GPA's should be going up with more strict standards not the other way around.

I have taught in a Masters of public administration degree program for 15 years. Every public sector employer bemoans the lose of "soft skills" in new hires. The emotional intelligence needed to work collaboratively makes public policy work and businesses profitable. It doesn't matter how good the cyber defense plan or manufacturing strategy might be if no one values meeting deadlines.

No cheating and laziness are allowed in learning; especially when score is main criteria to get in colleges. Otherwise students will become blindly confident and be kicked out from college for "no reason".

I can not stand standards based grading, even in the primary grades. At 3rd grade and beyond there should be accountability in grades. Our fourth grader has no idea how she is doing in school because AP, P, DP, & N mean nothing to her.

Our family is not in support of this change. Our children deserve the best education available to them. This new grading system encourages less than the best. What are we teaching them if they do not have consequence for laziness? Please do not implement this change, it will do more harm than good.

Norfolk did this and it was a nightmare! They reversed most of their changes. The VA Beach School Board should be disgusted with themselves and admit they are wrong with this idea.

The purpose of education is to help students to gain real capacity for their future career, not to just provide a good looking transcript. The new policy is a cheating on self, and will not help our students in any positive way.

I strongly approve this petition. One of the things teachers give students is responsibility through these points. Without zero's, late work, and cheating consequences, students are unable to learn about the importance of responsibility.

Are you kidding me? What a mindless proposal. Who is this going to help? You certainly can't be thinking of our students. This has be some biased decision to be politically correct in some venue not withstanding in education. Are you kidding me? I will find as many people as I can to fight this tooth and nail. I'll contact my kids all graduates of this Virginia Beach School System and turn them lose on this proposal. You haven't heard the last of us or other members of this community. Guaranteed!
