No zoning changes and no new developments for Reston. Our community is already strangled by traffic and overcrowding. The County first owes its citizens the infrastructure improvements necessitated by the recent and current developments that it already approved. Further, it is critical to the life of our community that no plans for further developments which do not include supporting infrastructure be approved.

Amenities and traffic are already suffering from the recent explosion of development. We need a temporary halt on development until infrastructure concerns can be properly addressed to account for more people (if that is even possible). Reston is a planned community and that is why we love it here -- Please do not turn Reston into something it is it not supposed to be, like another Tysons.

Caring Hands Livable, Caring and Affordable Communities
As Fairfax County continues to grow we will do so in ways that address environmental and mobility challenges. We will encourage housing that is affordable to our children, seniors and members of our workforce. We will provide compassionate and efficient services to members of our community who are in need. We will continue to protect and support our stable lower density neighborhoods. We will encourage and support participation in community organizations and other activities that address community needs and opportunities.
The above ia from the BOS priorities listed on their web site. "We will continue to protect & support our stable lower density neighborhoods.
Reston does not want or need higher density!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is irrational and irresponsible to increase the Reston zoning density plan without fully understanding the impact to our traffic and infrastructure from all of the existing development in Reston (6 major apartment buildings in work) and the Dulles Corridor ( Woodland Park, etc). The metro does not solve the transportation problem. We have people racing down residential streets every day because they are trying to AVOID the metro.

This is a insult to the many people who have built the Reston community over the past 50 years, all for the sake of developer's quick profits.

Dear Officials,
Please put a moratorium on Reston zoning and other changes to Reston's Planned Residential Community.
I am a resident of Reston, VA.
I also own two (1) businesses based in Reston: (1) Carpamus, Inc., and (2) Vincens, LLC.
James Rossant created the original Master Plan of Reston with his firm Conklin Rossant. With my family, I am deeply committed to the future success of Reston as a model community that strives to create the best possible environment for residents.
I am concerned about Fairfax County’s move to dramatically increase the population density of Reston in the PRC. I believe this will undermine the quality of life of the residents and create problems. Why? Because there is no simultaneous funding of infrastructure. Reston does _not_ need to grow quickly. Laissez-faire development in Reston will rob the nation's capital area of one of the most important, successful examples of town planning in this country.
Reston’s great appeal and historic purpose is to foster a _balance_ between residential, commercial, and open space. The parks, pathways, wooded areas, golf courses, playing fields, and lakes afford residents (and visitors) ways that foster community. Jame Rossant's Master Plan seeks to achieve and maintain balance with controlled growth, infrastructure investment, and population growth.
Over-zealous developers threaten the Master Plan in their attempts to build higher density housing without concomitant planning and investment in other aspects of Reston.
Reston's Master Plan is a living document: it needs your support.
Please put a moratorium on Reston zoning and other changes to Reston's Planned Residential Community.
Reston will lose out in current development plans because schools, already crowded, cannot serve a flood of new students. Reston will lose out when developers sacrifice open space for more housing units. Reston will lose out because developers do not accommodate and foster walking

Cease and desist on Reston expansion plans until land speculators have demonstrated to the people of Reston that their money-making schemes will actually benefit Reston and fit its Master Plan. And then let the people of Reston vote on any changes to the PRC.

This constant building needs to stop. Traffic and overcrowding is already becoming a problem in Reston. Soon Reston will be too crowded, undesirable and nothing like what was originally planned.

If I wanted to live in Arlington, I would move there. I live in Reston b/c of the uniqueness of Reston (ie open space, suburban nature, ability to travel 2 miles in less than 30 minutes). The FFX BoS is not looking out for constituents when it green lights every high rise, but takes no action to require the developers to pay for needed infrastructure to support addl residents.

We demand that all new construction projects include full package. If business purpose, then both parking and additional roads and traffic sign, etc. if housing, same plus schooling. We don’t want to face higher taxes to support infrastructure: let builders build real, full infrastructure—or don’t permit them to build.
