Reston Zoning Moratorium Petition

Reston does not need more growth, no new ugly highrises, no more air and noise pollution. Reston is supposed to be unique, serene, quiet, beautiful, green and peaceful.

I moved here cause of all the trees. the metro station is ugly. This is not Tyson or Las Vegas.

Once the precedent has been set by conceding modest short-term allowances to developers, the long-term cost will be the loss of all that makes Reston unique. And once done, you can't put that genie back in the bottle. At the onset, Reston built limitations in it's population growth and development for a reason. If the suburbs were the developers' answer to crowded cities, Reston was the answer to those developers. Mr. Simon even recognized that it takes more than housing, dining and retail to create a better way to live and a sense of community. Yet, it finally comes full-circle as powerful developers with slick brochures and webpages promise a gleaming glass-and-concrete future with yet more dining and retail options. And the sense of community? Simply double or triple the population and you can't help but experience "community" all around you. Don't think so? Just wait until your morning commute. After the developers have made their fortunes and moved on, Reston will be a footnote about a planned community that lasted for half a century but ultimately failed to maintain its idealist ambition. We absolutely can't allow that to happen.

Totally opposed to growth without smart planning! Keep the developers responsible for their share of the burden they place on us by increasing the density on our roads, schools, stores, etc.

Keep Reston "Reston". Overdevelopment harms everyone !

I do agree that we need to make sure we have the correct amount of infrastructure before development. Part of the reason people leave is because of the long commutes and stress. Part of the charm of Reston is the parks, pathways and natural settings, so why are we jeopardizing it?

Reston should not be turned into Tysons Corner. The traffic congestion is already unacceptable.

Whar about storm water runoff into the Reston's storm water management ponds otherwise known as lakes. These are owned by citizens of Reston and we have to pay for msintenancr. If development is allowed to incrrase, these SWMP should be turned over to Fairfax County

how about some new entrance/exit lanes on toll road to deal with additional traffic? Wait, i'm still waiting for Metro at RTC since 2010 and still waiting....

No zoning amendments for Reston until the county has a viable plan and funding for necessary infrastructure.

I was at the meeting tonight (Oct 23rd). Very disturbing....

Please stop the development of Reston, a once thriving planned community great for families first!

I-66 is going to be a toll road! Isn't it a sign that we don't have enough roads! What about our taxes that was spent to build I-66, are we getting them back?

I agree that development must be phased with infrastructure. And to stop zoning changes until this is proven to be done.

Reston needs to remain as it was designed, lots of green spaces, not a city!!

Please don't turn this great community into one with concrete urban sprawl. Protect it. Already the schools are challenged with teachers for the students we have.

My zip code is in Vienna but I live near the Reston Zoo so do most of my shopping in Reston. One of the reasons we chose to live in this area was because Reston was such a lovely community which was not overcrowded. In 7 years the traffic has increased and shopping areas are so much busier so adding even more people is going to cause gridlock and spoil a lovely community just because rich developers are greedy. It would be really sad to see Reston change that much. I avoid downtown Vienna for exactly that reason. Please do not spoil this beautiful area.
