Reston Zoning Moratorium Petition

I fully and whole-heartedly support this petition. Fairfax County must STOP selectively enforcing the Master Plan and address infrastructure needs before any changes in density.

I have attended now several meetings concerning the county's proposed rezoning plans, the most recent being the meeing of RCA on Sept. 20th. Earlier in the year I had proposed revisting the proposition of incorporating as a town. What Reston needs is control of its zoning. I'm now convinced that this would only come by incorporating as a city. Reston's current population is considerably larger than either Falls Church or Fairfax City. At the rate of growth discussed at the meetings I've attended, Reston's population should exceed that of Alexandria by 2020. Incorporation as a city would be difficult to achieve, but we should be talking about it.

We are definitely opposed to any increase in zoning density. Our current infrastructure could not be improved, due to space limitations, to accommodate this proposal.

Reston is a planned community that been a model for urban planners and a haven for residents. The proposed development, especially without accompanying infrastructure will kill the proverbial goose that laid the golden egg. Developers will collect their profits and leave, the residents who built this community and want to continue to enjoy it will be left in gridlock and concrete canyons.

What Fairfax County has in mind for Reston is not at all what will keep Reston as one of the best places to live in the United States.

Why the urgency to change zoning laws that could ultimately lead to a tripling of Reston's population without a commitment to improving/expanding infrastructure that would support it?

I totally agree with the statement. Development before a viable plan and funding for infra structure that supports more housing is like "putting the cart in front of the horse".

There are already too many high rises in Reston

STOP the zoning change and plans to increase the population density of Reston.

I'd like to see a more sustainable plan that includes the infrastructure required to effectively support increased density and better understand the benefits of the increased density to current residents aside from the economical influences of the developers.

I vehemently oppose increasing density in the existing Reston Planned Residential Community. There is too much density as it is.

I'm concerned about traffic increases.

Please do not turn Reston into concrete jungle. Thank you!

Reston is a very special place there are a few communities like it in the entire United States. We have to work hard to maintain the sense of community that is evident in Ruston

Please STOP the relentless and thoughtless construction in Reston that is overcrowding our streets and schools, and destroying our quality of life.

Reston is livable now. Increasing the density in this defined area would begin the inevitable decline in quality of life for all residents--apartment dwellers & single-family home owners alike. Do not disrupt Restonians lives, please.
