Marquee on a graveyard We found out our local church in Worthenbury, Nr Wrexham, North Wales have given permission for a Marquee to be placed on consecrated burial ground for a wedding reception which took place on Saturday 2nd May 2009. To make matters even worse there are six graves near the Marquee with a generator about two metres away from the graves. My late step-fathers grave is one of the six graves. This has caused great stress to the families especially my mother who along with the other families involved were neither consulted nor informed about this. I have pictures of the Marquee, graves, etc. This is apalling that the church who preach about 'rest in peace' will have people partying, drinking, smoking, etc on burial land. It is a disgrace. They have chosen to allow this to take place and have given no thought to the families involved. I am more than happy to talk to the media to stop this in the future. Please contact me at [email protected]. I can email back a link for the petition and hopefully on Tuesday will have a link/video of the song 'Iam an Anti Christ' by the Sex Pistols being played at the Marquee on Sat 2 May. Regards Neil PS To date (as of Monday 18 May 09)the Vicar Rev Copping has still not contacted any of the families. By the way he leaves the parish in July.

I am truly humbled by the number of people who have reached out to share their own experiences of grief and loss after seeing what happened at the church. It is entirely because of your support that this issue is finally leaving the local bubble and getting the attention it deserves.

Partying on top of graves? Whatever happened to basic decency. My heart goes out to your mum.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Have some respect for the dead and their families. Shame on the church for even allowing this.

This is so wrong. Cant believe they would put a generator right next to the graves. Unbelievable.

Disgraceful. Rest in peace is suppose to mean something.

Total lack of respect. The vicar should be ashamed of himself.

The church has lost its way if they think this is okay. Not good enough.
