Kids have not used full school facilities like access to face to face teaching with teachers, a lot of savings on your part in terms of cost like water, electricity, aircon, gas etc and all cost that has to do with kids being in school.
Our Salaries as parents have are being cut/holidays been deducted in compensation of salaries. Most teaching have been done by us parents, lots of hard work and time consuming considering we are not professional teachers. I appreciate teachers providing material but it doesn't make sense if we are still being charged 90% of the fee considering you have saved a lot it terms of costs. For such; Appriciate if you can rethink your decision regarding fees. We are not in good position as you are aware, we are meant to be on this together its fare to lower your prices further. We are all the same if we are experiencing pay cuts then its fare to bare this together with your staff since we are all not going into work, we are working from home and hence we are not in full productivity and so its fare to distribute cuts fairly. Asking parents to write emails explaining their situation is not ok because at this stage we all know every single person is affected economically or at least majority and if school fees deduction is going to happen then every single parents should benefit from it.
Please consider reducing 3rd term fee further, 10% is not good enough.
Thank you.

For many salaries have already been reduced and for many it will be in next few months. Who would understand It better than Al
Futtaim group. Would love to see the reduction of school fee in line of the other prominent schools in Dubai.

Dear DIS,
We are with you for the last 14 years since my eldest daughter is in IB 1 now. We have 13 years ahead with you since my youngest son is currently in year 1. One more child is in year 5 right now. We wish to continue our education with you. Moreover we have never asked anything like this before. But in these trying circumstances, we would like to request you for some possible discount which will be applicable for this year’s term . Because your help would be very essential at this moment and we don’t know what might happen in the future. Thanks your very much for your continuous support and understanding.

I believe that there are a lot of points that makes us eligible for a proper discount/ refund which are as follows but not limited to:
1. As we have paid the fees upfront in September 2019, we have helped the school on receiving advance funds for the whole year.
2. As the online system is till end of year, a lot of utility consumption and expenses will be less during this period.
3. We believe that the School will take an initiative to help us as the Government is helping all.
4. The Government has already reduced utility fees and other Government expenses which the school will benefit from therefore lower your year expenses.
5. We have been hit by additional expenses related to home care as we are working parents therefore we had to get daycare services as the children are all morning home.
6. The additional efforts at home for the teaching of the children has been much more and will be till end of year specially that they are triplets.
7. Salary reductions and unpaid leaves have affected the household extensively.
We therefore are sure you will agree to a reasonably proper refund based on the above and we will pass our gratitude to this initiative as well to the Ministry of education and all authorities with thanks.

I do not mind sitting with my children to assist them during this temporary remote schooling. This is a role parents need to do to take part in the safety of our country. However, DIS should give a reasonable discount on the Term 3 fees, on timely basis.. meaning NOW and not as means to secure enrollment next year. At a glance, the operational costs of DIS is lower due to less supplies, maintenance, utilities, electricity, etc.. A reasonable discount like what other schools has given is possible without hurting the salaries of our valued teachers and staff.

Children are taking onlinelearning this term, how can a full term 3 fee payment can justify or equal to normal school. That's my point of argument. I will appeal again.

The 10% rebate on tuition fees or discount for next academic year is really disappointing. The need is now to cut fees on term 3. I am not satisfied with the level of effort and engagement they are putting into my children’s education. The multiple applications they ask my Year 4 student to go through is madness. I support this petition, sadly, the decisions of DIS management was not well thought through.

To: Al Futtaim Education Foundation /
DIS Board Members / Director of DIS...
We are still hoping that the owners i.e
Al-Futtaim would support & offer a good fair discount to alleviate the financial pressures from so many families impacted by this unprecedented pandemic, just as they have contributed, supported & offered a 3 months rent relief for Al Futtaim mall tenants.
We trust that the wellbeing of the DIS parents community is an integral part of the continuity of DIS.
As for Deira International School, this is the time to really prove to your DIS parents community that you really are :
#inthistogetherdubai
#wearedis
#wegotdis
#alonetogether
Finally, besides our main concern for a fair good discount for Term 3, we also hope that there will be no requirement for the re-registration fees for the next scholastic year 2020 - 2021, especially during these uncertain times.
Thank you...

The amount of time and energy I put with my child is a lot to begin with. My son is able to grasp a lot of the knowledge, having said that pressuring parents to take videos whilst teaching is very frustrating for a child. 10 % is not a fair number since a lot of the work is done by the parent and child.
