There are resources in San Antonio for a thriving Symphony, Opera and Ballet that put in productions that don't shortchange patrons, musicians or dancers. Over 100,000,000 taxpayer dollars were spent so local arts groups could have a home. Don't settle for less!

A ballet without a live orchestra is not a ballet performance...it is a dress rehearsal, and certainly not professional.

The fact that live music was not present at the performance of Sleeping Beauty was awkward at best. Such a huge loss for all involved.

The San Antonio Ballet is amazing but without the live orchestra there's an empty feeling and void that certainly can't be filled with the soundtrack. I won't come back if there's no live orchestra.

maybe they should hire a qualified promoter to help assist in finding budgets through sponsors.

I agree. Live is the only way to go. We are in the process of getting our first equity (unionized) theater (read: professional) in San Antonio. Finally. Let's please, please, please not go backwards!!

Having high quality musicians in our city is a benefit to whole community, not just performing for the symphony. The teach masterclasses and private lessons to our children as well as participate in a myriad of other educational opportunities. Pay them more and have more performances so they can afford to live and stay here.

I didn't like records at dances 52 years ago and certainly not recorded music at performances now. The city should be ashamed to present anything less than live music.

This is the reason I moved from SA! All of the problems of a big city, but none of the amenities. Another sign that San Antonio is becoming a double a city again. Double A being a baseball reference major leagues, Triple A, double-a. Can music is something Georgetown, Texas does, not San Antonio, Texas.
