This ridiculous situation shows a complete lack of respect for local residents and is an utter shambles. There is no reason why this should take so long. The longer it goes on the more damage it is causing to surrounding roads which will then never get fixed!

Bureaucracy once again delays the progress of this problem and in the meantime just shifts it somewhere else. In this case accidents & road damage via the diversion around Patmore End. Sort it please!

I agree that this prolonged road closure and the linked diversion route is a great inconvenience and also a safety issue, given that the alternative route is a single width lane and full of deep potholes at all the pull in passing points and lining the road edge. Disgraceful. I have shredded one tyre already using this diversion. I live in old mead road and work in saffron Walden as a Nurse so need to be able to drive safely to and from work in darknessz

I support this petition to complete the repairs to the road. I frequently use this road and the diversion is very dangerous.

I travel this way to work every day and the alternative route is a nightmare - too small for all the heavy duty traffic travelling on it. This also takes significantly longer than normal as well and this has now been going on for almost a year. Not acceptable.

9 months to tender a contract!... while you keep a vital road closed and divert traffic down a single track road not fir for purpose is absolute disgrace. Perhaps Essex CC should give Matt Hancock a ring - I'm sure he's got a mate who can do it! ;)

This road needs re opening ASAP as it is dangerous using the other suggested route especially in larger vehicles used for businesses on the closed road
