With all the terrorism and hate going on in this country I would imagine we would want to send the message to those who want to see us thrown back into the closet that WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED OR RUN SCARED. This is just what those who hate want. They want us to run and hide. That is why we should have shown them and the rest of the world how strong we are and how united we are as a family here in Cleveland. I have only missed a small percentage of Cleveland Pride events since they started in 1989 and am both appalled and outraged that the director and board were not more proactive with arranging for increased security and training as soon as they were aware of the shootings in Orlando. Did they go to our community and ask what we think? NO! L.A. was able to beef up security and show how strong their community was on the same weekend as the shootings and Cleveland can't do the same within a couple months? Thank you, Todd Saporito for giving terrorists exactly what they wanted! I think it's time for someone else to be in charge.

I was looking forward to taking my grand daughter to the Pride Day in Cleveland this year. She is very disappointed. :( At 16 years old, she was looking forward to being around those like her.

There is no reason or excuse for this year's Pride to be cancelled. I and many others that I know are very deeply disappointed by this decision. To not go through as Pride in this day and age it's very shameful. No other cities or organizations canceled their pride events this past year.

The city has protected other large groups of people this year and Columbus did just fine with their pride, this is absurd.

I was born and raised in Cleveland and am so angry to see this. Columbus Pride drew 500,000 this year and yet this man feels it's okay to cancel Cleveland Pride....why? For what? Clevelanders deserve better.

This man realized, with only 2 weeks to go, that he didn't have his act together. His comment to media was an excuse not an explanation. We were at the first Cleveland PRIDE and since. The LGBTQ community stands together. We make things happen. He needs to resign.
