I've been going since 89. Every other city had theirs so far, we host an RNC and suddenly we are blaming social climate, not enough time to prepare??? No. Pride needs to go back to how it was back when it started. There was amazing performances, parade, house and disco music, great food, etc.

As the former President of Cleveland Pride for 3 years, I agree. The date of Pride was moved to accommodate the new location-this gave an additional 2 months to do what needed to be done. Cancelling is un called for. What is being done with the money that was raised from last year (insurance settlement for rain cancellation)?? I know the amount of money (and time) it takes to do the event......

At the very time that we should be out LOUD AND PROUD, you'd have us hide in the shadows? If we do, the haters win. Go forward with PRIDE!

I appreciate all of the unpaid labor that goes into planning an event like this, but if you were worried about security, why didn't you reach out to the community to do something about it sooner? The lack of transparency, not to mention the message this is sending, is deplorable.

Please do tell what the details of why the pride festival is cancelled. The real details. Funny the Gay Games were over and now Pride events in Cleveland are thrown to the wayside.

We fear violence so we HIDE? Was Stonewall "safe"? Was it safer 46 years ago when Pride was founded? Was it safer when we gathered, outdoor and publicly, to mourn the dead and reaffirm our unwillingness to be chased from our community in the days following Orlando? It was bad enough we rescheduled out of Pride Month for the damned RNC, but this is obscene. The is a denigration of the history and meaning of Pride, an abdication of our activist history, and craven cowardice and capitulation to fear.

Unless we can all come to an agreement that we do Pride anyways and show these folks that we're not afraid I think you should resign

If CLE can put on a successful Gay Games, it should be able to put on a successful Pride celebration. Shameful!

My heart is with my LGBT brothers and sisters who just came out and needed Pride this year.
