This is the kind of decision that has me looking to relocate. Instead of hiding, we need to demand equal protection to that of the RNC if the "political climate" is so bad.

The reason we need pride is the very reason it was cancelled for. If we don't rally together and bring visibility in a time when it's needed most, which this year very much was, then we aren't doing any good for the lbgtq community. Cleveland already doesn't have the gay facilities, culture, and resources it should have. Moving here from Columbus made that very apparent. Their pride puts Cleveland to shame which shouldn't be the case. Just as an example of how much it's needed, I went to several book stores trying to find LGBTQ books or reading materials, finally amongst everywhere on the west side I found a section at BnN that had 9 titles. Didn't even take up half a shelf. To push this festival back, when it already wasn't in June -when pride is in full swing and support was at its highest after the pulse massacre- then to cancel it altogether is to shove us all back into the closet.

Cleveland Pride was the event that showed the young 18 year old me that I didn't have to be ashamed of who I was. This move shows that we can be bullied and scared back into the closet and send a horrible message to the young people who have not yet come to accept themselves. Shame on you. Your decision flies in the face of everything that Pride represents.

Time for leadership that does not have any conflicts of interest. I know Todd reports to the BOD but many have been hand picked by Todd and will not have the courage to act in the best interests of the Parade, festival and community. I do hope I am wrong and they listen to the voice of their community.

In a time when we should be celebrating, you don't cancel an event like this. The organization had 12 months to plan this. Not having time is no excuse. We did a huge parade for the Cavaliers win, just a couple days after it happened. No excuse that you couldn't plan something in 12 months. The time has come for you to move on.
