We love the small village feeling here. With current traffics in that area, adding more will generate more safety issues to the neighborhood.

I was opposed to any height above the SMU Law Library and still feel that way.

The increase height proposed would not only create an unacceptable precedent but also ruin the hometown feel of our main street - Hillcrest - whether coming from the North or South entering the heart of our beloved University Park. Another undesirable sight addition to this area would be an above-ground parking garage. An underground garage should accommodate all of the employees in the future office building and Snider Plaza, thereby allowing parking room for patrons of Snider Plaza businesses.

Good boundaries for development within our little city
are necessary to keep us unique --set apart--and the most desirable place to live in Dallas, and in Texas

Our home is one block from
Snider Plaza. It is already congested
and an increase in traffic is not what
we need.

3548 Haynie Ave. The building as proposed is too tall for the neighborhood. It is dramatically taller than anything else in the surrounding area, even including across the street at SMU. This will change the character of Snider Plaza and UP. They need to stay within the limits of the current zoning.

Traffic at 5:00 PM is already back to back from Central Expy to Hillcrest and beyond. Traffic at Hillcrest and Mockingbird is also a zoo at that time of day. Please limit the office space to the current zoning use.

I support these compromises for the Chase lot development. I do not want to have a West Village type development in the city of University Park. I do not want above-ground parking garages and a huge increase in traffic, which will inevitably lead to accidents involving children on bikes. Why on earth would we want to make such a huge, irreversible change to the quality of life in UP? Surely we do not need the tax dollars so much, such that we are willing to trade the safety of our children for it. Please build something responsibly sized and neighborhood friendly, that keeps the long-term best interest of our citizens and children in mind!

Additional reasons to deny Strode request: why would the city council choose to expose CUP again to additional legal battles requiring hours & hours of extra meetings, extra conflict, significant city funds? Why should residents and current business owners have to spend hours and hours and significant funds to protect them selves and their investments from overly zealous developers seeking to fundamentally change the character of town?
