A major compelling reason to require ALL underground parking - the distance between the piers in the garage determine the number of parking spaces between them - you can't park a half or a quarter car!.
The developer will be unable to re-stripe for compact parking. According to existing CUP zoning, up to 25% of parking can be for compact parking. 710*.025 = 178 parking spaces could theoretically be compact. IF above ground parking is permitted, the top level will be open, there are no piers to prevent the re-striping to tighter spaces.

I wanted to introduce myself to you all as a concerned parent and citizen of University Park, Texas. My name is Erika Warren and I am a proud graduate of SMU, Meadows School of the Arts. My husband, Charles Warren, and I moved to University Park last December to give our son, Cole, the needed skills to thrive in a small town, while living in a big city. We moved from Lake Highlands and are extremely happy living in University Park.
I am quite concerned about the development plans that have been laid out by Mr. Jim Strode for Chase Bank. Our son is fourteen years old and has autism. We walk to Snider Plaza on a daily basis and I feel if there is an increase in traffic from the Chase Bank development (people are saying an increase of 4,800 cars daily), there are going to be multiple safety issues that arise. Our son, at times, runs out in traffic due to his autism, so we have to be on alert at all times while we are outside walking. I am truly worried about our safety if the Chase Bank development follows through with the plans Mr. Strode has laid out. The main priority should be our children's and grandchildren's safety.
1. Should development increase a traffic flow that endangers the safety of others?
2. Have you considered the impact of a child or an adult being hit in traffic, due to negligence of added drivers in Snider Plaza? Texting and social media play a huge impact in our society, so why increase further risk to those living in University Park and surrounding areas?
3. There is a need for parking. Would you consider building a feasible structure and charge for parking? Parking would need to be structurally sound and offer tenants in Snider Plaza a place to park, without worrying about moving their vehicle every two hours. The reason I know this is because of the businesses we frequent on a weekly basis.

Put multi-level parking underground and keep the number of floors minimized.

I support the alternate proposal stated in this petition and oppose the Strode Propries project. I ask the City Council to require the developer to follow the rules that were put in place for the reasons stated in the zoning ordinance. The current proposed project belongs on a freeway, not in the middle of our UP neighborhood.

Our children attend HPMS; we don't need to increase traffic in that area. Already congested and unsafe for our children.

Too high. Does not fit with the surroundings, i.e. SMU or Snider Plaza. This is not Uptown. Traffic will be unfathomable and unsafe for our kids for those of us that live close by with small children. Just a horrible insult to the surroundings and our small community if this is passed.

the Chase Building needs to go, but I oppose the proposed height of the development. It should be close to the SMUbuildings across the street

You will severely hurt the value of the neighborhood not to mention how obscenely oversized it is and the immense traffic it would create. This is a primarily residential area.
