Improving Safety for Residents at 798-800 Richmond

I’ve noticed there’s now security back in the building and they’re doing regular checks. We do need more checks for the stairwells as I’ve often seen homeless who have gotten their hands on spare key fobs. Should have reported this, but figured they were there to get cans or keep warm and at the time there was no security to report this to

I also have had many issues with the building. My unit has been entered without notice in the early morning on multiple occasions, I have had the unit above me flood my unit twice, both times i had to clean it up myself and they would not tell me what the water source was. I have personally been stuck in the elevators twice, the last time I was stuck I used the elevator call button to request help and the responder said that i was the 2nd person stuck in that elevator that morning. On multiple occasions I have seen staff locking off an elevator to mop when there is only one elevator working, forcing residents to take the stairs. When you call them for assistance they never answer, their answering service actually just hangs up on you after 10 mins of waiting.

I love the locations and my unit and truly enjoy living here but that is being hindered by the lack of security. I want to feel safe.

These are all reasonable changes to fix many problems that have gone on too long.

I agree with all the arguments made and would like to point out that the building lacks proper security AND general maintenance and cleanliness. 800 Richmond needs a proper cleaning! These carpets should be ripped out and burned!

HUGE lack of care from Akelius. Major lack of security and there have been numerous nights where I have felt unsafe. I should not have to feel unsafe in my home nor should anyone in the building. They need to install more cameras immediately and increase security overall.

Cameras in the stairwells please... There's a lot more to be said but this is too important.

In addition to the above security improvements, I would like to see cleanliness upgraded (I.e. new carpets or a thorough steam clean at minimum and attention to laundry room equpement - both cleanliness and maintenance, plus better general upkeep)

I've lived here in 7 years and have seen the decline since it was operated by Westdale properties. It's time that we all feel safe in our homes and to have basic needs med considering how high the rents have become.

I am a resident of 800 Richmond Street West and am in complete agreement with the content of this petition.

I have lived in this building for about a year and a half. The lack of a concierge or security is definitely a concern. Also, having no buzzer or building number on the side gate (Walnut St) for 800 Richmond is frustrating.

I've lived in this building for about a year and a half and I've really enjoyed living here. That said, the building and facilities are falling into a terrible state of disrepair while building fulls of residents continue to pay for them. That's quite unacceptable. I'm hopeful that Akelius will use this opportunity to upgrade security, services and facilities alike, so that residents like me can continue to enjoy living here.

My fiance and I have lived in this building for a little over a year now and have become very frustrated with the lack of assistance when it comes to repairs and security. People's safety is now at hand and things such as proper buzzer codes and security guards stationed in the lobby are essential.
