Stopping people from feeding stray and feral cats and dogs will not decrease the populations. The many wonderful rescue groups have been out trapping, spaying, neutering many feral cats. They release some back into environment, or some are adopted. This has helped decreased the populations tremendously! These people have huge hearts and save many animals. They feed them, foster many, and find so many homes. It is cruel to starve them. Please do away with this law. Thank you.

They did not ask to be on the streets alone, so why punish them more!!!

I'm Shocked by this law!!! This law regarding feeding stray cats in Plattsburgh needs to be canned immediately! Plattsburgh needs a shelter badly! Spay & Neuter a lot of these homeless kittens & cats through a TNR would dramatically cut down on populations. Starving them to death is not the answer besides it's against the law in NY to starve an animal. Animal Cruelty! Humans are the guilty ones. Go after them but don't starve these poor unfortunate cats to death in the process. They are hungry and depend on the generosity of kind hearted people to give them food. I think the city of Plattsburgh should come up with some kind of plan to TNR a lot of these cats. To discourage feeding them is not the right thing to do. So, please do away with this law. Don't know how a person can sleep at night knowing there's a poor kitty freezing & slowly starving to death outside their home thanks to your law. So, please rescind this law ASAP! Thank You!!

I do not live in Plattsburgh, I have rescued 2 stray cats at my home that were freezing and starving!! One I have had now going on 13 years and the other 3 years. It is NOT the animals fault they were abandoned somewhere along the line. punish the people that make this situation!! Way to show people what kind of leaders Plattsburgh has! heartlesss and uncaring! I will NOT shop in Plattsburgh again if this law stays!

Who came up with this law? Local citizens? Or local lawmakers?? Do any of these local law makers have pets? I would like to see their pet get lost, how would they feel if not a single person fed or gave fresh water to their pet??? I do not believe for a second that they would be happy with it! This is shameful, and not a good example to set for children. If I was a local law makers, I would be ashamed!! This does not look good to people who drive an hour plus to shop in the Plattsburgh community, just saying...

This is a disgrace. Punish the owners not the animals.

Disgusting. Any city that would be this callous is a city I would never visit. I hope that one day, the people that have made this law are out on the street and no one helps them. Vile and disgusting people.

As an LVT I am writing to say this “law” is not an appropriate or humane answer. As someone who has lived and worked in Plattsburgh, I wholeheartedly disagree with this law. I also work with a NY Spay/Neuter program and we still haven’t been able to control the cat/pet overpopulation problem in our area despite all efforts- but we are trying. Allowing a living thing to starve to death is wrong. Maybe you should go even a day or two without to see how it feels. Especially in the dead of winter. It makes me angry that you think so many humans have no heart. And it would not hurt anything to be kind. Also I highly doubt this “law” will stop people from doing the right thing. It surely wouldn’t stop me. Who voted on this? The people of Plattsburgh or just the local government? I’m certain that the local animal shelters who help place and care for unwanted/stray/feral etc. cats among other animals would not agree to this and they are one of the forefronts battling this suffering every day. Reconsider this inhumane law. Thank you. Jennifer Wiggins, LVT

Why would anyone be ao cruel and inhumane to please a few people that probably have never owned and animal. I hope you consider a better alternative.
