I'm not saying that something doesn't need to be done to somehow stop people from abandoning there animals but I don't agree that this new law will do that. These types of people clearly don't care what happens to the animal they just tossed out. Why have a law that will make some people afraid of wanting to help/feed the homeless abandoned animals when they can. I think they need our help whenever we have the ability to do so, especially with such a harsh winter approaching. We shouldn't feel like we can't or we will have to be responsible for more than we can afford to help an animal that someone else decided to abandon.

I don't agree with this law .local people who have been working hard to help these cats.now you are making the laws more strict to make it more difficult in helping these cats.Shame on who ever tries to enforce it.People will still feed and have these. Cats fixed. I'm not satisfied on this arrangement. And I won't stop feeding the feral until someone come up with a better solution.

poor innocent babies have 2 suffer cause of their owners either dumping them or not getting them fixed,they get hungry just like we do they deserve 2 b fed n not go hungry by starving,

Not feeding them doesn’t stop breeding and thus, won’t stop the problem. We should be doing humane TNR, where you trap, neuter, and return the cat back outdoors to live it’s life, and take a little sliver off it’s ear to let people know it’s neutered. Eventually the populations will dwindle, since they won’t be able to reproduce

This is a terrible law, cats will starve because people don't feed them. The ones that don't die will cause more problems then you can imagine because they are hungry. Remember this is caused by humans throwing out their unfixed cats allowing them to keep breeding. It is not the animals fault. This law is barbaric and inhumane. You should think twice about this law as there are a lot more animal lovers than you think out there and they all pay taxes and vote and spend money in the city.

New York State leads the nation in animal anti-cruelty laws, and forcing well-meaning citizens to choose between providing lifesaving care and facing criminal charges unless they absorb the total costs of homing and caring for these animals is, in and of itself, cruel and inhumane. What about frequent, free spay and neuter clinics? What about preventive education for pet owners, offered by vets? What about the city applying for grant funding to cover the costs of homing these animals? I am a grant writer and I would be more than happy to offer my services free of charge, had that option even been presented before jumping to criminal sanctions for people who are simply trying to help. Please reconsider this law and be open to holding a town meeting that would allow for more workable solutions rather than unreasonable punishments. Thank you.

I don’t agree with your new law. Make a law punishing people for abandoning there cats instead and for animal abuse. Make laws where the veterinarian can’t charge such a high price to spay or neuter and get shots for an animal. We have to go to Vermont for better prices. Ny is a rip off for vet care, things need to change.

Even animals that are dropped need to be fed and watered. Trying to fix them and let them go is okay. Don’t stop feeding animals to let them die to make things easier. Killing innocent animals that humans decided they did not want is not a form of punishment.
