This is heartbreaking.Who in the world is going to let a poor defenseless animal starve and freeze. It’s not the cats fault they were abandoned.

This is awful shelters are full, so people do the right thing by feeding the animals so they don’t starve to death. What is happening to our state they need to rethink this. Shame on them!

The law punishing citizens for caring for stray cats is misguided and ultimately ineffective. Support preventative measures, such as spay/neuter programs, to reduce the stray numbers. It has a larger impact and the cost is less than paying people to enforce this bizarre rule.

This is animal cruelty. Would Plattsburgh humans like it if the shoe was on the other foot. How would they like it if the cats did that to them, "THEY WOULDN'T." They are cruel

Programs need to be put in place for low-cost spay and neutering, catch and release, or other programs besides just ignoring animals to die. This is a truly coldhearted “Law.”

How about a law for mandatory spaying and neutering of welfare recipients instead of letting abandoned cats starve to death?

Please focus laws on punishing those who abandon and mistreat animals rather than those doing their best to prevent harm. Non-profits and community organizers are doing their best to trap, neuter, release (TNR) which involves feeding and trapping animals which in turn successfully reduces and eliminates populations of strays and ferals. This law could unintentionally increase populations and animal cruelty by forcing folks to "live and let live" when it comes to abandoned animals.

This isn't going to help there will be dead animals everywhere attracting other animals and have a bigger problem.

This is so wrong. Our pets are the only ones who love us w/o judgement. They didn't ask to be treated like this.

There's a better way. Stray cats help control the pest population, even if they get a little help with food and water. Trap Neuter/Spay Release

This local law is cruel. It’s unhelpful. They will still find food and breed. The easiest way to handle this is to round them up and get them fixed. Forbidding your kind-hearted citizens from feeding them will not fix your problem, just create animosity toward your local government during election season.

I don't agree with this law at all. I did feed a stray cat and adventually brought the cat inside and now he is healthy and playful but we had to feed the poor thing for a while and fell in love with him. It's not the animals fault that some live on the streets people abandon them when they move and when they get to old and no longer cute kittens why should the animals suffer even more give them a warm meal and maybe build them a shelter. Us animal lover can only keep so many in our houses but it won't stop us from feeding ones outside.

I am appalled at this new law! The mayor and the rest of the elected officials are idiots, I still feed my cats, and will continue to do so! You should make a law against the college students getting a kitten and dumping it! That how the problem keeps getting worse! This is a horrible decision, and I will keeping calling and writing until it is cha ged!

It is not the cats fault at all. If people weren’t so stupid and got there cats fixed on top of not let them outside or just leave them behind when they move then There wouldn’t be a problem. It is sad to see and hear that they want to abandon these cats yet again like their owners have already done. If they want the problem fixed then maybe they should start donating or help the Cat Palace or other organizations to catch these cats and help these wonderful organizations take care of them build a wonderful cat house or let them have a commercial space to take care of them and help them with food and litter and shots and spaying/neutering. We have a problem yes but its the humans that led to the problem by being negligent or just plain ignorant.

Despicable....

Humans are the reason that stray and feral cats exist. It is now our responsibility to feed and care for them, given that humans irresponsibility led to this problem in the first place.
