Densification makes sense but not the way it's being done.

Bring back common sense

As a resident of Belgravia I am witnessing the uncontrolled rezoning of beautiful neighbourhoods to add in infills, which are acceptable, but seven storey apartment/condo complexes and that too with no consideration for parking and the resulting traffic congestion when trying to get out of the neighbourhood is absolutely insane.

The current attitude of the City of Edmonton towards infills with no regard for neighborhoods needs to stop.

8 unit dwellings in mature neighborhoods is extremely unfair to adjacent neighbours. It arbitrarily destroys their property values and privacy. People bought homes before this bylaw way passed and it undermines their lives and planning. Extremely obtuse thing to do to hard working edmontonians.

In support of changing the bylaw to not allow multi-unit dwellings on a previously zoned single family lot.

City council should be ashamed!

The parking has become a serious concern in my community- an 8 plex with basement suites without garages being built on previous single family home lots!!! Vehicles are being parked in front of homes blocks down from the residence because there is no room! And our streets are not meant for vehicles to be parked on both sides to only allow one direction of traffic to travel through. And now with the train trolly being built, traffic through our residential streets are increasing with people trying to get down town - not to mention when the trolly becomes active, there are no parking permits, so are people taking the trolly going to park their vehicles in our community, too?

We need responsible infills

It is really getting out of hand. Zoning bylaws existed for a reason and taking them away so fly by night contractors who would never live in the neighborhoods they are destroying is making life difficult for anyone trying to live in what were formally quiet residential neighborhoods.

I think density in our central mature neighborhoods is important, but there needs to be minimum developmental requirements and design guidelines to follow. I also feel these should be applied across ALL developments, not just the “infill” typology. It is not fair that one high-income earning household can build a monstrosity on a corner lot, with no consideration for the neighborhood aesthetic AND tear down all the mature trees on their property, but a multi-family development is considered “unacceptable”. There needs to be balance and consideration across the board.

Infill has such a great impact on neighborhoods that it needs to be done carefully and all voices need to be heard to make sure it is done in a way that works for everyone involved.

I think everyone in the neighbourhood is for responsible density. But with large multi-family homes without adequate parking we have to park down the street to get to our home. Some actual planning nd consultation with the neighbourhood would do wonders.

Infill is positive but only done as petition outlines!!!!

We have been asking for some accountability from city council for many years without any regard to the long term planning or design. Traffic flow is horrendous and unchecked. Pedestrian safety is at an all time low. Urban planning around families and versus corporate is unmeasured and developer investment is driving approval with no community input. Why is this necessary? And to whom is this accountable. What does the city actually do?

Imposing a zoning bylaw on property owners and renters is not democracy!

I have a monstrosity next door
