Restore Edmonton's Democracy: Rescind. Rethink. Redo

The push for high density at the expense of beautiful neighborhoods that were never built with the infrastructure to support these changes is an exercise in stupidity…basically par for this city council.

The god-awful 8-plexes being imposed ion McKernan are a shame on this Council.

We ask for responsible infills.

Neighborhood consultation please ! Make it make sense, not just approve every permit.

We have serious traffic and parking issues in Belgravia before all this new and uncontrolled densification. How can a firetruck, ambulance or police even enter or exit our community when needed? No parking for many of the new builds. How can we even get out of our community in an emergency?

We don't need more useless buildings and multiplexes in our neighbourhood

I fear for my property values and increased crime in our mature/ safe neighborhoods

I was asked by City Staff to be on the neighbourhood Committee before the Neighbourhood renewal. They had already drafted OUR principles & pretty well everything during the entire "planning" process. Instead of listening during zoom, survey & in-person feedback, they kept to their own ‘great plans’. Now we have green areas removed, swaths of trees chopped in natural areas, & considerable additional hard surfaces. Also there are bridges over ravines that don't need them (& are supposed to be ER/protected places) & much more. The COSTS of this are astronomical, the liveability deteriorates, & it violates CoE principles related to ER, biodiversity protection, climate mitigation, & community cohesion!

I am very concerned about the rezoning and development in Belgravia and Windsor Park. There was one residential lot subdivided and building 16 units row houses in Windsor Park. There is no parking, traffic safety consideration and no neighborhood consultations.

It seems the City of Edmonton has no respect for the home owners who have payed taxes in these mature neighbourhoods for decades!

This has already started in our community with an 8 Plex not far from the community hall. Not on a corner lot!

I am very concerned about the rezoning and possible development that could occur without proper planning. Belgravia's roads are already way above capacity during busy times, almost impossible to get out of the neighborhood. It can take more than 40 minutes just to get out of the neighborhood with all the traffic on 76 avenue. To take my son to an appointment I have to park my car in Mckernan, walk to his school, and then walk him back to the car to try to make it work. This is so inefficient and I have to leave work early to account for this Belgravia also has one very small school. It is scary to imagine how much worse it will get with a bunch of developers doing whatever they want here. Please reconsider this zoning policy.

Current infill plan is unacceptable. It will ruin our communities.

Traffic will even more dangerous and extremely congested if development goes ahead as planned. The current situation is already unbearable with 30 minutes+ to get out of our neighborhood on a daily basis.

I am so fed up with all the infill in Belgravia. These Airbnb's are a great concern. Two sitting on a 50 ft lot. Illegal parking every week. Just received a card stating 11571 University ave is wanting to build a 4 storey. We already have two large house on both sides of our 1952 house. We need to stop the way new houses are built. The smell of the food vents permeate our house when our windows are open. All venting needs to go up through the roof. If this 4 storey goes up our whole back garden will have smells coming from all the vents. Garbage with be a great concern, smoking and illegal parking will be a concern. Little is done to deal with enforcing by-law in Belgravia.

We need neighborhood input for any disruptive developments impacting traffic and safety and multifamily units built in the middle of single family dwellings. It needs to be thoughtful with input.

Dismayed how our neighborhood are being changed in a nonsensical way. No protection for the mature trees and how Edmonton’s canary is actually shrinking because of our city council’s inaction to protect them. Very disappointed at how this city council has let anything be built anywhere

Infil with the old city plan was great, now developers have the final say and are pushing for more .

No consideration has been made regarding infrastructure. No consideration of parking or overloading neighborhoods. People who have been here for years losing sun exposure in their yards and more. Have come to believe just a tax grab, the more you can load on 1 lot the more income for COE. Developers and COE coffers only benefit. No regard or respect for existing owners. Last time we had zoom meeting with COE planning reps, we were all talked to disrespectfully as if we no longer matter or have any say in this matter. Total disregard for existing tax payers (who in my case, have lived in COE for 68 years). Even our City Councilor stated to my wife, that because we aren't in agreement, we are just greedy. Again, a disrespectful comment.

When you develop without community input, the impacts are felt far and wide, diminish perceived value and make families feel the need to move. This municipality has done a terrible job engaging citizens and should feel ashamed with their poor planning skills.
