I fully agree. Developers have too much and little to no restrictions. Change is good but to what cost to the neighbourhoods you are plowing through?

It is wrong for the city to allow building of duplexes, and other dense buildings when people bought property in areas that were designed and sold as single family developments only. I have a neighbour who put in a basement suite during COVID without permits and letting the neighbours know and he is reaping the profit while our property value decreased because of this. It is terrible management at the city level.

Our mature culdesac is being removed with a 4 plex and daycare being made. This is heartbreaking and a culdesac canot handle this growth.

They building a six Plex witch has the potential to become a eight Plex next door to me. This will bring down the value of my property and even one else in the neighborhood. For starters we were not informed in any way that was going to happen.

I'm currently dealing with an 8 Plex going up next door to me. I live on the north side of it, so I will now live in the shadow of basically an apartment building. I am all for responsibile development and density,this is not it. My property has been ruined, I can no long use the garden I made to feed my family. I'm pretty disgusted the lack of thought on what this does to the community.

My experience with the developer and the owner of a 8-apartment building on a tiny lot is bad. There was no room for his machinery on the tiny lot during the construction, so the machinery used my driveway several times, and broke it. The developer first pretended that I broke my driveway myself with my car. Eventually, he put a concrete patch on the biggest crack, leaving others. An interesting moment was when my garbage and organic waste bins disappeared. I found them on his property next day, and emailed him, asking not to haul my bins away. His reply was polite and insolent, implying that I have stolen his two missing bins. But because each bin has a serial number, I could check that those bins were registered to my address. The police said that unless I have hard evidence, they cannot do anything. Next week, my neighbour's bins disappeared. The city replaced them with new bins, and the following week they disappeared again. They were found on his property. I understand that not every developer is as grabbing as this. However, the city has nothing to do with these problems, things can only be solved through court or via personal communication with the developer. Another issue is that few developers (maybe none) live on such a property, they rather run it like Airbnb. The neighbourhood becomes a purely rental area, without real neighbours. The absence of neighbours changes social life very noticeably, and uncomfortably.

It's the lack of parking that is more of a concern. I live in a street with a fourplex and three duplexes and it is often difficult to find parking for myself let alone if I happen to want to have any visitors. I can only imagine what 8 units with no parking would be like.

Explain to me how having two rental eight plexes across the street from each other in an area that formerly had only TWO houses is a good idea. Do you want to live by that? WHY are there more and more rentals being built in Jasper Park? This neighbourhood already has a lot of apartments and transient people, who do nothing for the community league and schools.
