Restore Edmonton's Democracy: Rescind. Rethink. Redo

i have voiced my concerns and disapproval of how city council keeps making decisions without our consultation. We have a 3 story 8plus in middle of our block. enough already!

We already have problems with parking due to NAIT students and single home residents that live around us. There’s no room to park in front of our house. My street is already congested , and there’s a duplex, and a 4 plex being built right now. Plus cars aren’t getting ticketed, or towed when snow removal or cleaning comes around. I have to clean the street in front of my house when cars aren’t parked there late in the day. No one obeys the signs because of limited space.

I am concerned with parking issues. In most new build neibourhood where the houses are smashed together there is no parking. I am finding the current model of Infill has the same issue and older neibourhood roads are narrower. Itbis hard for service personnel to do there work.I also worry about this infill not having the proper infrastructure in place.

Zoning Bylaw 20001 needs to be repealed! 8 unit buildings should not be replacing single family dwellings in mature neighborhoods. These buildings tower above their neighbors, are an invasion to their neighbor’s privacy, limit sunlight to surrounding areas, and cause parking congestion. Is the current infrastructure of the neighborhood able to handle the increased demands an increased population will require (water, sewer)? Who will want to buy a single family dwelling next to these huge infills when the current owner sells? That owner will likely have to accept a lower price when selling. Some infill is acceptable but it must be smaller (2 - 4 unit buildings), in keeping with the neighborhood character, and provide off street parking (underground parking is an option). The city mayor, city councillors, and city planners have shown no respect for the residents of older neighborhoods by using this bylaw to allow large redevelopments to be built on single family lots.

Green spaces should be saved … such as in Bluequill where I was a long term resident … Also I am concerned about limited public parking space where new the 4 to 6 plexes are being built, squeezed into residential communities…

2 skinnies across the street with total of 4 units. They bring 6 vehicles that park out front. Not to mention b/f,g/f cars too. Building an eight plex 2 lots down. Can’t imagine where cars will go

Hate what we see with 8plexes and overbuilt houses. Need to repeal this ridiculous bylaw

No one who lives in a mature neighbourhood wants to live right next to an 8 Plex and their sunlight taken away. There is also the issue of parking.

The zoning bylaws were changed to benefit developers and make real estate more expensive, while also forcing average citizens to take on the majority of the tax burden.

I am dismayed at what the city has decided to approve for infill buildings. There has been no regard for current residents. In our case, having multi story 6 and 8 plexes is making it more difficult for seniors to find modest bungalows to live in. We are beginning to feel like we need to move out of a neighbourhood where much of our life was invested. An all for developers to make more money. Edmonton is a city with one of the highest undeveloped areas suitable for building in the nation. Why are we not encouraging those areas to be developed? I also see large apartment buildings (like The Hat) still looking for tenants. Why then build mini apartment buildings when these are not yet full? Many of us will be voting against our current city Counselor if this is not changed.

City of Edmonton staff forget they are civil servants, NOT king of the castle.

This needs to be supported as we have too much of this infill with little regard for the people living there

I feel The City of Edmonton are not respecting their constituents. More people are moving to smaller towns & villages because of the threat of having a 6-8 story buildings being built beside their homes. There are so many other areas that are not being considered for example 66 St 122-124 Ave. Decrepit buildings that are vacant or not being maintained. Leave the older areas alone.

Community consultation is lacking for infrastructure, rezoning and safety.

I’m 100% opposed This will kill the vibe people seek in older neighborhoods and the property values.

100% yes to responsible infill and gradual densification. No to blanket rezoning that is destroying our neighbourhoods.
