Council needs to respect older neighborhoods and consult with them. New developments do not allow for new immigrants to buy as they are priced so high. Three story buildings should not be allowed in residential neighborhoods.

Infills with little to no parking is crazy. We have gone from single family to now 5 plus dwellings on the same block. Increasing density by 500plus percent with no parking or services is stupid.

My family is increasingly concerned with the negative impacts of rezoning policies/multi-family dwellings in our neighborhood recently: parking and alleyway hazards (emergency vehicles not able to safely access), city waste program (black/green bin, recycling) hazards

Densification for the sake of densification cannot be a policy objective. Long term impacts on communities and infrastructure have to be considered. Current projects are not providing more affordable housing, especially for families.

I’m not sure why existing multi unit properties that have been abandoned or fall derelict are not being considered for densification and made a priority. The easy way is to buy small homes and cram 4 or 8 plex buildings on the smaller lots without consideration of the effects on utility infrastructure and parking issues. Only thing that comes to mind is greed for someone and no consideration of the neighbourhoods and reasons why people choose to buy and live in that area to begin with. A consequence is that some of the people may choose to leave, presenting another opportunity for additional multi unit development.

Edmonton City Council is ruining our historic Highlands neighborhood! There are six property locations with proposed 4 and 8 unit complexes within 2 blocks of my house. I am not opposed to single family infills but this is totally devastating!

I have absolutely nothing against infill (we actually built ours about 15 years ago, back when there were rules around such things.
But densification needs to be done with forethought and planning. Not haphazardly like it is right now.
Let’s fix this while we still can.

Plex built right behind our single family lot. We actually moved a block away as it was so unsightly and frustrating overshadowing our entire west facing back yard . Please also

Very sad that city council has allowed these massive infills to destroy our beautiful neighbourhood. Why didn’t they choose a less desirable neighbourhood or even their own neighbourhood!

I am not against in-fill. Duplexes or too skinny houses on a large lot are reasonable. 4 plex-8 plex is over kill. Density in my neighborhood is intense with the planned replacement of Strathearn Heights apartments and the replacement of townhouses on 85 st between 95 and 90 avenue.
The developers have had more say in the infill options than residents have. Reduce the impact of over densification in mature neighbourhoods Revise “The Plan”!

The number of units that can be built on a lot that housed a single home ought to be in keeping with an assurance that the infrastructure, especially water and sewage lines, is sized appropriately so that there is no flooding or other related issues because of old and inadequate sewage and water lines. We also need to consider how many cars any neighborhood can comfortably provide parking for. People living in the neighborhood may need parking and all of us will want to know that family and friends will also find parking within a reasonable distance when they visit. Eight units on a lot that previously had a single home is a number that fails to consider what’s viable not just possible.
