Restore Edmonton's Democracy: Rescind. Rethink. Redo

I am not against infills, I am against 8-plexes etc. in single family home neighbourhoods.

We need to be more responsible and intentional with densification. This new approach isn’t the way. The houses or units are not affordable, they’re disruptive. Having 8 units usually means 16 cars in Edmonton. Often, this densification isn’t happening in neighborhoods beside the train so people need cars. This is not the way to densify.

This is a horrible bylaw ruining these beautiful neighbourhoods for families with small children. Keep Edmonton beautiful and classy. Apartment complexes have no business beside single family homes in these long established neighbourhoods. This is not solving the housing issue, it’s making it worse

What the city is doing to our beautiful old neighbourhoods is thoughtless and criminal. Where is the integrity of our city government. Do they have no respect for the people of this city who built these neighbourhoods, held fundraiser to build community centres and gave countless volunteer hours to make these centres a reality? We live here, this is our home. What right do you have to make changes to our home without even a consultation with us?

Please listen to the neighborhoods you are paid to serve. The lack of consultation and disregard for citizens needs to stop.

There are plans to build a 10 unit complex on a single home lot in our neighbourhood (Greenview in Mill Woods). There has been no consultation with neighbours. We think this development would change our quiet neighbourhood and put stress on our infrastructure.

These multi family 3 stories have to stop. Ottewell revitalization has narrowed all the roads , the sidewalks are double wide and there is no more room for street parking. Most of these infills do not have adequate parking for the residents and the property taxes no longer pay for neighborhood renewal, we are being charged for half the project and paying the other half with unreasonable increases in property taxes.

Quite a few going up in this neighborhood,, they're huge, all have single car garages but probably 80% of couples/families have two cars,, so street parking is getting so bad

Definitely needs to have changes made.

These new developments are detracting from the character and charm of our established, mature neighbourhoods. I have been personally affected with an 8-unit building going across the street from my house. Parking on the street in my area, will soon become a nightmare. It would be more appropriate to place these large-scale buildings in newer communities, where their style and scale would be a better fit with the surrounding environment.

Put in an Apex or even a four Plex in this neighborhood would be terrible for one thing. There is no bad alley to park. Therefore, all of the houses around the cul-de-sac will be loaded with cars. I take a beautiful neighborhood and ruin it with Apex and totally against it

There needs to be more intelligent zone planning of these infills. Parking is already a challenge without adding 6-8 infill residences to already crowded neighborhood's. Absolutely unfair to the residents already living in an area where infills are being slapped up at an alarming rate. The character of old established neighborhoods is under attack. Please rethink the zoning bylaws. Put your long time taxpayers ahead of the need to disrupt neighborhood's to boost the city’s tax dollars. Shameful.

Appalled at the infill destruction in the neighborhood. No parking, robbing adjacent properties of sunlight and equity, eight unit apartments in the middle of the block, infill out of scale with adjacent properties. Should be able to sue city hall for plummeting house price when next to eight plex. Are builders following all CRA rules when hiring framers or are these guys working cheap for a cash only arrangement? This is happening in Edmonton. Who is monitoring this?

Putting infills and multi units into this neighbourhood will cause severe congestion. Many streets do not have sidewalks or enough room for the already existent cars from current residents.

I recently lost an appeal regarding a commercial scale daycare going up right next door. City Council claims they are giving Edmontonian's what they want - how can they say that when our rights to notification, our rights to express our voice and our rights to appeal are being stripped away under the disguise of "permit use" development permits!

Our street has no back alley and no sidewalks. We don’t need cars from a 4 or 8 unit building crowding our streets forcing us to walk on peoples lawns or in the middle of the street.

I can't believe I'm saying it but I would prefer to see more skinny houses on these lots than the multi-units that are being built now. We have a multi-unit across the street from us and a second one being built less 4 houses away. Parking on the street has become a nightmare. There was no prior engagement and for the current property and the developer is already trying to renegotiate the approved plan and add an additional unit.

The large 8 unit rentals that have been built in my neighborhood are not sustainable for this neighborhood as they don't provide enough parking for their residents and the streets are really narrow.
