Restore Edmonton's Democracy: Rescind. Rethink. Redo

I’m not opposed to infill, but it has has to be responsible in info. Mature neighbourhoods with single homes should not be using a lot to build an eight Plex or six Plex.

Super bad experience from beginning to end.

We have a development on our block where two large multifamily building are being built where there was only one. Where one dwelling existed there will now be 8. The house tower over the others on this block. This is not what we purchased when we moved here. Increasing density is fine. Garden and basement suites are fine. But there is an upper limit. Transforming a lot from a single dwelling to 8 dwellings on what was a single lot in a mature neighborhood has gone well beyond what is reasonable densification.

rezoning without meaningful public consultation is unacceptable.

Let’s have in Phil that is suitable for the neighbourhood

The City simply does not listen to Edmonton residents. Never has and likely never will. Edmonton is governed more by developers than by elected “representatives”.

Infill without restrictions, suitable parking, and the ability for a neighborhood to have a say is not a responsible way to grow a city.

This was never properly advertised to residents. Repeal this bad by law. Give residents more input.

The madness must end.

Uncontrolled development is not acceptable.

I think that for new developments they should have to take into consideration green space and how it is impacted with multi unit housing. Not having parking requirements for these spaces has allowed a 8 plex to be build with no parking planned this has a major impact on those who move in as well as residents already living on this street

The municipal government is irresponsible in it disregard for sustainability, resource protection, landscape, the culture, desires, needs, and personalities of inner-city communities where infill is encouraged. It will desecrate them and make cities like ours simply lego block style with no sustainable value. An election is on the horizon and community values are on the line.

No 8 unit buildings please!!!!

We are ruining neighborhoods, devaluing properties without given single family homeowners reduced taxes based on drop in property value. Not having dedicated parking, increases danger for people and pets, especially kids. Amount of garbage begins to increase exponentially and this is never how neighborhoods were intended to be. Edmonton council should be ashamed

I didn’t move into a mature neighborhood to have new homes that don’t fit the neighborhood. 8 plexes are crazy no parking

There should be stricter fire codes (distance to next building and amount of windows on the side and height of the units). These are walk-up style apartment buildings and the houses beside them are wedged in. Also, taxes for affected single detached homes should be reduced because of parking limitations and garbage pick up limitations that will ensue. As well decline in property values or saleability as a single detached family home (especially if house has multiplexes on both sides) should have big tax credits.

Infill is uncontrolled. We are getting too crowded in established neighborhoods. I n street parking is becoming a problem due to multi family skinnies.

Increases density requires thought for success to be achieved. Many of us are on the side of infill and affordability but the current approach leaves risk for flooding, destruction of ability to grow your own food and have access to sunlight, and is only making property more expensive.

i'm all for progress.. but the quality and the care put into these units is not representative of the quality and accountability of generational ownership! how about inspectors to view the process and impacts in the places they're throwing these shacks up? A city THIS poorly planned at most community levels (ie.. any major st/ ave, E or W right now is under construction.. dont even get me started on the bridges , lrt etc) that has made living in the city nearly impossible BEFORE you try to double the density... who's running this dogs breakfast?? can't wait til the election!
