Zoning Bylaw 20001 is laced with reckless provisions for infill that is degrading our streetscapes and character of Edmonton’s mature neighbourhoods. Citizen input that informs better infill proposals has been routinely ignored by Council, who are supporting thoughtlessly designed and cheaply built projects under the guise of affordability.

I agree with all of the suggested policies, in particular those suggesting the use of Blatchford (being totally mismanaged by the City's development approach), the Exhibition grounds (which could begin before the Coliseum is demolished) and other "open spaces" for the construction of neighborhoods as dense as is wished. Those moving into newly constructed dense neighborhoods will know exactly what they are getting and will choose that type of neighborhood.

I am a 26 year old who moved to this neighbourhood when I was 24. Normally I could care less about this kind of stuff but have noticed recently the amount of multi family homes in which are ruining this community. This is a beautiful historic neighbourhood with homes that have character. But recently being destroyed by cramming these multi family units onto lots that are way too small, with little to no parking. These units are supposedly affordable housing in which I strongly disagree. Something needs to change, and we need to protect these beautiful historic neighbourhoods!

I am opposed to Edmonton Zoning Bylaw 20001. It was poorly conceived with only one objective. New projects have no input from the public, and there are no appeals. It does not take into consideration the impact on neighbours or parking in the neighbourhood.

I like the safety of bike lanes. I think that well thought out infills are a plus, but there has to be some control. To allow 8 units in one lot, with no parking availability is irresponsible of city planners.

hair on fire zoning and planning without due consideration of impacts to existing property owners is unacceptable. Consultation with the public was a long way from adequate given the magnitude of the impact that such changes represent

I support some, responsible infill measures and reduction of urban sprawl, but with neighbourhood consultation, clear, sane, zoning regulations that have been studied and adopted, not the current situation (where most of the rules were dropped and consultation was nil) including mandatory parking and reduced number of units and a limit of units on any street and in any established neighbourhood. They should also fit in with the character of the neighbourhood, and things such as ability of utilities in the neighbourhood to cope, and disruptions to the neighbourhood should also be included before any permits are issued. The current situation, with little to no consultation or regulation, nor regard for neighbourhood character, traffic, utilities ability to cope, congestion, etc. is unacceptable!!!

This Zoning Bylaw has allowed for construction of 8 consecutive 5-plexes right across from my house. This makes no sense in a developing community where there's barely public transport or nearby amenities. The road is barely wide enough to allow one direction of traffic as is, and to expect a doubling or tripling in the number of residents on a single street without consequence is extreme naivety. I support gradual densification but I don't believe this is the way to approach it...
