Restore Edmonton's Democracy: Rescind. Rethink. Redo

They call us NIMBYs like everything we have was just given to us. We worked very hard to finally be able to afford our home and the character of mature neighbourhood only to have it devalued in so many ways with this zoning bylaw. You should know what you can expect to be built beside you when you decide to invest everything you have into your home and property.

It is disgusting how property owners have no say and how many areas these large complexes affect negatively. All the city wants is money

Stop ruining our neighborhoods, parks and green spaces. These neighborhoods were never designed to have a multiplex wedged in between single family homes. Creates dangers on the streets for children playing and pedestrians, it increases the potential for structure fires, it increases the fire load exponentially and ruins a beautiful mature neighborhood overlay that made these neighborhoods special. You are putting people’s lives in danger.

The city has completely disregarded the sentiments and wellbeing of incumbent homeowners by handing all the power to profit maximization motivated developers who couldn’t care less about how what they build destroys the character and livability of neighbourhoods. .

Infill has greatly impacted my enjoyment of the home I have lived in for forty years. Most recently an eight suite two storey apartment built across the alley facing my back yard. This has drastically affected my enjoyment of my backyard. I encourage people to sign this petition before it happens to you,,,

I am not against growth and development but feel things are going too far. Too many homes are being demolished and replaced with huge homes or huge complex’s that don’t consider the privacy of neighbours or consider where cars will park if it’s a multiplex structure. The integrity of mature neighbourhood should be taken into consideration. At the very least, think about what it might feel like to live next to such a development yourself before constructing something. There needs to be a way to do this with thoughtfulness and integrity.

They are ruining the neighbourhood’s charm and are only there to make money off the people that live here’s sacrifice.

Changes need to be made. Save the integrity of our communities.

This Wild West of development MUST STOP! Take citizen feedback and go back to the drawing board.

Monstrous overdensification is absurd and only results in very expensive rat boxes, piled on top of eachother. Simple decent houses with nice yard and space already WERE affordable before the lure of quick easy profits brought in hoards of developers climbing over eachother to demolish them and build megaliths with huge profits and high rents.

There needs to be proper planning, for more housing, that doesn't impede on mature neighbourhoods.

Would drastically ruin what we love most about this neighborhood.

I think this new development strategy is ridiculous. It is completely disrespectful of thousands and thousands of families and individuals who have spent lifetimes, investing their time, and savings investing in their communities and properties. Not having a say, or any recourse in this process is disgusting. I find it incredulous that it also only applies to the older, established neighborhoods. What would be the opinion of the public if the bylaw suddenly affected sll neighborhoods?

Ritchie has become the poster child for morally bankrupt infill

Infill has become a curse on mature neighbourhoods and has to be restricted-no blanket rezoning!

Drove to the west end yesterday & saw so many of the ugly designed infill. 3 units on a lot is to many. No room to park or for 6 garbage containers. I'm a senior & they can shove their 15 minute walkable city.

It's time to rethink the current mindset of council and look after the people who live in these affected areas.
