Can there be a legal injunction applied for.
That would halt all present and applied for, infill construction activity, until such time as
the city of Edmonton council revisits (with real - community and citizen consultation)
the present infill zoning bylaw (20001 )
That passed with limited to no notice during the COVID pandemic
I also believe that city councilors and the mayor had and have a fiduciary duty to represent
their voters and should have had input from all interested and affected parties, particularly
residential taxpayers, that would bear the brunt of proposed zoning changes. As these
present changes significantly affect community character and values. Failure to actively
promote community values should leave them personally open to legal and financial
liability. Presently they hide behind the present, legal protections of their office.
The present zoning bylaw (20001) could lead one to reasonably conclude,
that there had been a level of complicity, between the city planning/zoning departments
and ambitious land developers. Ignoring existing community values and input.

In the last year, we have seen two four plex and two eight plex projects constructed on our street (109A st). We are a young family and while we love Parkallen, we aren’t seeing families move into these homes. The neighbourhood has changed greatly, and with a very busy street in front of our home now we have made the decision to move somewhere quieter where our kids can safely play. The one duplex has also had construction happening as early as 3 am. Developers are not respecting the neighbourhood and are here to make a profit, not preserve any of the community’s character.

The current policies are ruining Edmonton - people are moving to municipalities that do not allow this type of development.

We have neighbours who have 8 plexes on either side of them. They have lost all sun light and no one will buy their home. The city did this to them and it's been so stressful and devastating to them.

This bylaw passed is as bad as any law Danielle Smith and UCPs have passed in recent years. It's like watching a city council say they care but put virtually no consideration in to who their affecting. Strangely again it's a reminder of how important it's is to vote. I'm not an NDPer or a UCPer, but I do believe in good governance. This is not it.

The City needs to take a breath. Stop allowing this to destroy neighbourhoods. Rethink how and where infills are allowed.

I’m writing in support of the petition against unchecked infill development in mature neighbourhoods. While I understand the need for growth and increased housing, I believe development must be balanced with preserving the character, green space, infrastructure capacity, and livability of established communities. Residents deserve thoughtful planning and meaningful consultation before significant densification occurs.

Not a lawyer, but seems like a class action lawsuit against the city for ruining neighbourhoods, decreasing existing property values, etc... is needed here to get them to stop!

Do better Edmonton! Don't approve development without considering the negative ramifications like parking (if at all available), garbage and sewer. Plus 10 units on a previous single lot is asinine.

This irresponsible approach to infill is negligent to the city's constituents. We need bylaws that structure infill in a meaningful way that is sensitive to the existing framework of a neighbourhood and its district plan. Bylaws and enforcement need to be redesigned so builders with a history of non-compliance and bylaw infringement are held accountable and no longer able to receive permits in our city.
