There is definitely a need to keep the proliferation of infills in older neighbourhoods under close scrutiny, especially with the current administration which apparently has no real understanding of intelligent city planning and seem intent on turning older communities into overcrowded, unsafe slums.

The crappy building of infill and safety issues are a huge problem and eye sore for our neighborhood. Something needs to be done before it goes too far

I live in Montrose and see some appropriate infill but mostly oversized monstrosities that block sunlight and take up every square inch of the property. Councilors need to listen to their constituents.

The amount of Infills are ruining our neighborhood

Lived it. Worried it will happen again. House value dropped. It was part of our retirement plan. Shame on city council.

I do not approve of the manner in which city council has pushed this through without consulting the citizens of Edmonton. This is not a prudent or thoughtful resolution to increasing density in mature neighborhood's.

Keep the integrity of older neighborhoods. Large lots, mature beautiful trees, homes that fit the same era, reduced waste in the landfill. Lots of parking and green space. Similar affluent people in the community.

City council needs to start listening to Edmontonians, if it keeps up we need a recall of the mayor and most of council.

I think we need the data to catch up with what has and is still being built. What is happening with the market, with occupancy, with impact on neighbourhoods? What percentage of eight-plex units are occupied by long-term residents?

There is a need to prevent investment firms from pricing out family opportunities to purchase a home. The current trend will see Edmonton become like Toronto or Vancouver where housing affordability skyrockets. The flooding of the market with housing starts is having the opposite effect than what was intended with increasing the supply. All are being built with capital a regular family cannot afford. No opportunities for first home buyers.

I live in an older neighborhood and the toll it is taking on the infrastructure is really hard. Parking. Noise. And services.

8-plexes don’t belong in the middle of a block of single family homes. Size and scale is ridiculous, destroying neighborhoods and enjoyment of property by homeowners unfortunate to be next door to one of these new builds. There seems to be no governance over the building stands (window wells in middle of sidewalks, sump pumps flooding neighboring properties etc)

Destroying property values and quality of life cannot not possibly be the best path forward by Edmonton leadership. I implore you to consider that all other cities are using Edmonton as a cautionary tale of how not to approach growth. Calgary put a full stop to blanket re-zoning once they saw the damage being caused and heard the concerns of the constituents they represent. Red Deer and St Albert refused to even begin with blanket re-zoning. It’s possible to do better.

I need to protect my neighbourhood from excessive densification.

Neighbor’s need to be comfortable with the housing around them. Consulting and talking with the proposals for new buildings must be done. Council needs to allow administration, developers and Neighbors to work together.

Infills make for bad neighbours

We need to support and respect our neighbours who have been victims of this terrible approach to urban growth.

There is a 5 unit development set to develop down the street from my parents home that is extremely out of place and ill thought out for the planned area. Not on a bus route, not close to amenities, no street parking available, and where nothing else like it exists nearby. This will gravely impact the surrounding houses and neighborhood and likely become a nuisance property.

This would destroy the culture of our area and create chaos of garage, parking plus create more stress for the people living there.
