In light of the recent ODX video which shows the ease in performing the ODX exercises, the ASCA obedience community would like the ASCA Board of Directors to reconsider their approval of the ODX exercises. The ODX exercises, as performed, are not comparable to out of sight open sits and downs although both earn 60 points. It took 10 minutes to teach the dog in the video the ODX exercise.

I have been reading your messages about how these new standards undermine years of hard work in the obedience ring. Watching the recent video only confirms that these changes lack the rigor our dogs deserve.

10 minutes to teach? Seriously? My dog took months to get his stay down solid. This devalues everything.
PLEASE reconsider. It makes the whole program look like a joke to anyone who actually puts in the effort at home.
way to easy. what a shame for the sport.
total joke. how can they compare this to real obedience work? so disappointed in the board for greenlighting this.
The lack of stay exercises ruins the whole point of earning a title. My dog worked years for his CDX, this is just insulting.

I have t agree that the ODX title is NOT worthy of a title being as the dog does not have to complete the stay exercises. Obedience is all about the dog being able to stay whether it be a sit stay for 3 minutes or a down stay of equivalent time or longer in the upper levels.
