Reschedule Portage Northern Homecoming

Why was this date chosen?

What kind of school would do something like this?

Ignoring such an obvious conflict sends an exclusionary message to all minority students, not just our Jewish kids. In this day and age, knowing when these holidays fall is easily found online. I hope that PPS will do the right thing by its students, and let them know that they are all welcome and valued at all activities.

Even if it doesn't directly affect us or our children, it is very important to some. What does it cost us to be sensitive to the needs of others?

There are no more excuses for these kinds of recurring scheduling oversights, year after year. In this climate of open hostilities towards minorities and "others", I have to ask PPS if this was done purposely?

It is important for this school district, and every other school district, to take into consideration the importance of these religious holidays by not scheduling events on these holy days .

I was just made aware of this and hope that Portage Public Schools will do the right thing. Here is to acceptance!

Show respect for all people regardless of race, sexual orientation and religion

Jewish calendars are available online for free. There is no excuse for such intolerant scheduling decisions.

Please do change the date.....

You would earn a lot of good will if you were able to reschedule. If you can not, a public apology would be good.
