This petition is to enable Santa Barbara County's Water agency to require landlords in Isla Vista to install Reverse Osmosis water filter systems in their student residences.

Within the Goleta Water District, there have been found 18 contaminants exceeding the EWG health guidelines.

Many of these contaminants have the potential to lead to cancer.

Including a water filter in the homes and apartments of students who don't have financial power would promote the health of the Isla Vista student population.

"A reverse osmosis filter reduces all but 3 of the contaminants detected, including all 18 of those found to be above the recommended health guidelines in our water district," according to the EWG's tap water database.

Attached is the link to see these contaminants:

my house has horrendous water quality. everyone who lived in my home buys water because we do not trust the water in our home (due to the smell, metallic/chlorine taste, and the way we feel as a result).

the tap water in my place legit smells like a swimming pool and it leaves this nasty white film on all my dishes. landlords need to fix this cuz we shouldnt have to live like this
