Nicastro avoids the scrutiny to which she would subject others.

She apologized for her secrecy in a piece in the St. Louis Post Dispatch but this in not enough. When her secret session came to light she said that her suggestion on wording for a tenure elimination bill was of no consequence and that she did not have a position on tenure. She SHOULD have a position against elimination of tenure. Great teachers sometimes tread on sensitive ground and sometime challenge community values, and should. Geat teacher will not want to teach in a system where they could be arbitrarily dismissed for exercising academic freedom. Schools should reflect community values and sometimes challenge those values. Great teachers will shun systems where arbitrary dismissal is a possibilty and our schools will suffer a decrease in quality. Why should we assume that teachers will not exercise academic freedom properly and assume that thsoe evaluating them will not use a personality conflict or other improper reasoning for dismissal. Nicastro should be removed from office.

Commissioner Nicastro has not acted in good faith on behalf of the children of Missouri. She has betrayed the public trust and it is time for her to go!

A real trust issue

When she came to town to talk to us about them taking over the KCMO School District I had a feeling she was not telling the truth then. I got the impression that her mind was already made up. A few more that works with her need to go too. She and others that work with her have forgoten that a teacher reguardless if they had a licence has taught them well, and they did not interrupt the teacher or the class with sillyness.

And after her the legislators and judges who clearly have an agenda to dismantle every "Black school district" in the state and assure prisons are filled with students whose history is eliminated from the text books and who are diminished in value when disbursed into other districts and, once again, become the minority.

I am a product of a public school system and I do believe that our public schools should be improved, so that lifelong learning could prevail in all school districts in our country.

We would not need charter schools if the states and cities put the money they say they collect from lottery mony into the schools. also Charters don't work any better they just release the government from accountability while leaving many students out!!

I don't like Charter Schools. Most of them have not proven that they work.
