Request for crossing guard at Springfield Avenue and Doering Way in Cranford New Jersey

I grew up in Cranford my entire life and there has always been a crossing guard on the corner of Doering Way and Springfield Ave. This is a major concern with us parents with small children

This is absolutely a safety concern to all in our community. Drivers on Springfield Ave are not cognizant of pedestrians as they are trying to cross. It is a huge concern for me and my family, as well as others.

Please help protect our children.

Great idea - very dangerous to cross Springfield

Please help our children have a safe walk to school.

I live in this neighborhood and all three of my children used to walk to and from school everyday because there used to be a crossing guard present at this intersection. In a time when we are trying to promote concern for the environment and good health and fitness, we should be encouraging students to walk to school however we also need to be sure they are safe! I have been very discouraged that the town does not make a crossing guard at this intersection a top priority.

This is very important. Even with adults crossing the street in groups I feel like an accident is waiting to happen.

This is a heavy traffic area especially during the commuting hours. That is when our children are walking to school. We need to be proactive and find money in the budget to fund this.

I'm supportive of this petition for a trained crossing guard at the intersection of Deoring Way and Springfield Avenue in Cranford.

I have three children who can benifit from this. The newly paved Springfield avenue has more speeding than I can ever remember, particularly on the northend between the park and the college. We have already seen on tradgic car accedent this year. Please take this petition seriously.

I cross Springfield every day and understand the danger. An increase in police presence would also help.

Keep our kids safe

Glad his is being addressed- it is a dangerous intersection

Parents need to be their own crossing guard to walk their kids across Springfield Avenue to Brookside Place School. What that means is their kids are left unattended on the street corner while the parent walks in the middle of the street to stop traffic.

This is the way I walk my kids to preschool. It can take a really long time for someone to stop to let us cross and it is scary with little kids. A crossing gaurd here would make me feel much safer walking them to school, and in effect would probably help get the cars to drive more slowly.

There is definitely a great need for this.

I live on Springfield near that corner and my heart is in my mouth every school day!!

Very dangerous during school hours

Springfield avenue is incredibly dangerous in the mornings for our children. No one obeys the speed limit and no one stops for pedestrians.
