Absolutely fantastic idea. I have long protested about "uncontaminated waste ground" lying as such rather than being turned into vegetable gardens and places for hen coops: my idea was for school kids learning gardening and providing meals but feed all, yes and there are parts of all parks that are never or rarely walked upon, which could be sued to provide food without spoiling their environment.

Why charge the community for putting land to a positive use!!There is so much land around edinburgh that lays dormant and is an eyesore!I for one would rather see it go to a good use without having to line the pockets of some desk jockey!Lets set a good example to the next generation and show them the positives

Using land for food growing is basic to our needs and helps us to be responsible with the earth's resources.

Rec's this on 30th but text refers to 18th so hope this is still useful! Wholeheartedly agree that public spaces should be used to benefit the communities around them.

Success of this petition not only provides the opportunity to grow healthy food, but to give individuals the opportunity to grow in confidence, feel self worth and esteem through community work

In these days of growing need for foodbanks - what a great idea! With a group of community growers ready and willing to work with people to grow their own vegetables, let's not miss this chance, CEC!
