Request for Cancellation or Alternative Assessment for Edexcel IGCSE May/June 2026 Exams in the Middle East
We are IGCSE students from the Middle East asking the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) to reconsider requiring students in our region to sit the Edexcel May/June examinations under the current circumstances.
Students across the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iran, Palestine, and Iraq are living in a region affected by the ongoing conflict, instability, and geopolitical tension. The current situation has created an atmosphere of uncertainty and risk. This includes restricted movement and sudden school closures. The instability has significantly affected their ability to focus, prepare effectively, and access a secure learning environment.
The issue extends beyond the mere possibility of conducting examinations to whether students are in a position to prepare for them adequately. Persistent stress, safety concerns, and regional instability are significantly hindering many students’ ability to focus and perform at the expected academic standard.
Given that other examination boards have already postponed or cancelled exams in the region under similar circumstances, it would be fair and compassionate to consider alternative assessment methods.
We kindly urge the board to prioritize student welfare and ensure equity during this challenging time.

this year has been really stressful with war and unsafe conditions, and many students are scared about exams. we need a fair alternative or cancellation so we aren’t unfairly affected
It's not fair for students in the uae as we are not able to focus on revision for the iGCSE exam. Many students are getting anxious as they cant focus on studying due to the situation. Every other curriculum have canceled their exam and it's fair of igcse do so.
Please these times are EXTREMELY stressful and it is hard to study and get adequate sleep especially with the night terrors like what we in bahrain got yesterday.
Please cancel board exams and take our assessments, behaviour, classwork, project and a bit of the mock exam results for the final results to replace the board exams marks Thank you
Situation in uae is very concerning and people and dying, houses are being destroyed while I have to revise for exams that might not even happen plus the disadvantage that is students have of online schooling compared to other years in which teachers could personally help students in school for revision.

Due to potential missile threats, it's going to be really hard to take the exam and if alerts are received mid exam, we would have to go to a safe place as the place where the exam is supposed to take place have had a lot of sounds of explosions nearby and its at risk as there is a site nearby that isconstantly targeted
