GCSE exams place extreme pressure on students and do not truly reflect our real abilities or potential. A few hours of exams cannot fairly measure years of effort, creativity, and understanding. Many students already struggle with anxiety and stress, and the current ongoing conflict has made this even worse. It has affected students’ focus, mental health, and sense of stability, making it harder to perform at their best in such high-pressure conditions. Education should support students, not overwhelm them during difficult times. Coursework, projects, and teacher assessments provide a much fairer and more accurate picture of a student’s dedication and knowledge. Canceling GCSE exams this year would show understanding of the challenges students are facing and help create a more supportive and fair education system.

It's not fair for us. You can't make us compete in the same league, we qualify but not in this mental state.

I don’t think we should have exams right now. We have been through very stressful situations, and some people have been traumatized or forced to move between different countries just to stay safe. In such conditions, it is extremely difficult to find time and energy to prepare for exams.
Personally, I would not be able to concentrate while feeling anxious about staying in Dubai during a war, especially when hearing explosions. It is hard to focus on studying when your safety and mental state are affected

With the war going on there has been a lack of education due to it being online this have been a stressful time for all of us and distracted us from our learning. Due to this we must cancel these written exams and use evidence from past mocks and school work to predict our grades

Cancelling AQA A-level exams would be a fair and reasonable decision given that IB exams have already been cancelled. Keeping one set of students sitting high-stakes exams while others are not creates inequality and significantly increases stress and anxiety among A-level students. Many already feel under immense pressure, and this imbalance only worsens their mental wellbeing. Aligning decisions across exam boards would reduce stress, promote fairness, and ensure students are assessed under comparable conditions.

I sincerely believe that our exams should be canceled as a result of the war in the Middle East. This should be strongly considered due to the fact that students haven’t been on the school campus for over a month. Furthermore, there have been rumors of educational facilities being targeted soon (I am aware that they are American facilities) which makes it quite unsafe to be within a building for hours on end doing exams that won’t even matter if the world ends. We sincerely believe that our safety is a higher priority than sitting these exams as our teachers will be able to provide a more accurate representation of our performance over the last two years within the physical classroom rather than 2 papers sat during an on going war after not being present in school for a long time.
